The Evening Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all evening shift operations, ensuring production targets are met safely, efficiently, and with high quality. This role supports the Plant Manager by supervising personnel, coordinating schedules, resolving production issues, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. The Evening Shift Supervisor plays a key role in driving operational excellence and employee engagement during the shift.
· You will supervise all evening shift production activities to meet daily goals in safety, quality, and output.
· You will monitor and update the Master Production Schedule, including work order completions, notes, and individual assignments.
· You will distribute printed schedules to applicable work centers and general labourers.
· You will conduct quality inspections and follow-ups to ensure compliance with company standards.
· You will investigate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) in collaboration with the Plant Manager.
· You will participate in work order and efficiency reviews to identify areas for improvement.
· You will attend and contribute to shift handover and planning meetings.
· You will troubleshoot production and plant issues, escalating as necessary.
· You will assist with inventory checks and material handling to support production flow.
· You will review and resolve issues related to drawings, BOMs, and work orders.
· You will support training, safety, and 5S initiatives on the evening shift.
· You will maintain accurate documentation and reporting in the ERP system.
· You will foster a productive work environment through direct supervision and employee engagement.
· You will perform all duties in accordance with SYTEC Manufacturing Ltd.’s safety program standards and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations, and Code.
· You will use Lean, Six Sigma, and 5S principles and methodologies to improve efficiencies.
· You will serve as backup to the Plant Manager when required.
· You will complete other duties as assigned.
· You have a minimum 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing supervisory role, preferably in sheet metal or custom fabrication.
· You have strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
· You are proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems.
· You have the ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
· You have knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement practices.
· You have a well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
· You have strong written and verbal English language skills to communicate with all levels of the organization and its executive team.
· You have a high attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
· You have the ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
· You have familiarity with CSA / UL / NEMA / IP standards (considered an asset).
· You have strong health, safety, and environmental understanding and experience.
· You will work full-time, 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, 2:30 pm – 11:00 pm.
· You can work additional hours to accommodate demands.
· You can work in an extremely fast-paced environment and work under pressure.
· You can sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time with constant trips around the production floor.
· You will occasionally have to do some lifting and material handling.
Using this salary scale, wages may be increased based on reaching certain key performance indicators (KPIs). These KPIs will be discussed during the Onboarding process.
Upon onboarding, the Evening Shift Supervisor will undergo a structured internal training program to ensure alignment with SYTEC’s operational standards and culture. This includes:
· Orientation and Safety Training: Introduction to SYTEC’s safety policies, emergency procedures, Alberta Occupational Health and Safety regulations, human resource policies, and company rules.
· ERP System Training: Hands-on training in the company’s ERP (EVO) system for reporting and inventory management.
· Master Production Schedule Management: Instruction and training on updating and managing the Master Production Schedule, including work order tracking and employee scheduling.
· Quality Control Procedures: Training on quality inspection protocols, NCR handling, and documentation standards.
· Lean Manufacturing: Overview of continuous improvement methodologies used at SYTEC.
· Work Order and BOM Familiarization: Understanding of how to interpret and troubleshoot work orders, drawings, and bills of materials.
· Leadership and Communication: Coaching on effective team supervision, conflict resolution, and shift handover communication.
· Equipment and Tools: Familiarization and training on SYTEC’s production equipment and tools.
· Maintenance: Familiarization and training on regular maintenance of SYTEC’s equipment and tools.
· Training will be conducted over the first 6–8 weeks on the Day Shift and will include shadowing the Plant Manager and other key personnel.
