The Production Accounting Analyst is a corporate office-based position responsible for supporting gathering and processing operations by maintaining accurate gathering system designs within the production accounting system. This position does not require an engineering degree but relies on strong analytical, technical, and organizational skills. Responsibilities include collecting and analyzing operational data, managing databases, preparing reports, and developing spreadsheets to ensure accurate daily and monthly volume allocations. The Production Accounting Analyst also collaborates with various internal departments and external stakeholders to provide timely and reliable information.
- Develop understanding of the production accounting software (ProdView) and provide support/guidance to others on training, set-up, and audits.
- Provide quality control and assurance for the data entered into the production accounting software management through monitoring daily reports and job audits, collaborating with field personnel to make corrections timely.
- Develop audits that will provide real-time identification of issues related to the flow of data.
- Collaborate with field personnel to ensure a complete analysis of existing system set-up, recommendations, and implementation of measures to improve performance and ongoing monitoring of system performance.
- Work regularly with technical support groups to ensure database is functioning properly and efficiently, information is translating to Riley dashboards and reports correctly.
- Provide monthly volume reporting used for accounting accruals, revenue distribution, and cost allocations.
- Analyze and reconcile daily and monthly oil, gas, and water volumes utilized by management and production operations personnel. This includes validation and reconciliation of purchaser oil statements to daily/monthly trucked oil run tickets. Balancing truck run volumes with terminals and other off-load sites.
- Work with Riley technical support and auditing team in implementation of software upgrades which include developing and implementing testing plans of new versions of software as they become available and SOX documentation of testing.
- Manage incoming and outgoing partner (non-op) production: received and loaded into the production accounting system or distributed.
- Assist in developing and recording best practices as well as the training of field personnel in production reporting and systems: ProdView Go.
- Assist with the integration of acquisitions (and divestitures) as it relates to all production data.
- Cross train in the responsibilities of the other operations technicians. Confidently and adequately cover urgent requests in the absence of other team members.
- Prepare &/or submit information for regulatory documents including but not limited to flare permitting, transportation of products, production reporting, emissions reports, & facility inspections.
- Research, analyze, and compile volume data as requested by management or other Riley operations groups and affiliates.
- Ensure all related processes are compliant in accordance with SOX controls and guidelines.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and filters.
- Familiarity with databases and their functionality, experience with SQL, API, Snowflake, Spotfire is helpful.
- Knowledge of complex production allocations, crude and condensate measurement and characteristics, natural gas liquids, and gas processing.
- Working knowledge of drilling, completions, production and well-work operations in oil and gas.
- Experience navigating external applications and software including IHS Enerdeq, Enverus (DrillingInfo), PDS Energy, ArcGIS, helpful.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a desire to learn new technology.
- Effectively and persuasively communicates in written, verbal, and presentation forms with internal personnel from the field to the office, department to department, and external audiences outside of the Riley organization such as partners, vendors, or regulatory agencies.

- Bachelor’s degree is preferred, or a combination of industry experience and education may substitute as equivalent for degree.
- Experience with well and facility set-ups is required.
- Experience with a production software and allocations is required; Peloton’s ProdView production accounting system is a plus.
- Experience in any oil & gas production applications and software testing and troubleshooting.
- Experience with exception management on daily volumes is required.
- Working knowledge of regulatory requirements, particularly those related to the Bureau of Land Management, New Mexico, and Texas.
- Experience with production regulatory requirements is required.
- Familiarity with SOX compliance standards.
- Experience with volume reconciliations is required.
- Oil & Gas Industry experience is required.
