Manages the Product Support department of employees engaged in performing a variety of technical support activities. Leads and directs the department to support the multi-region P&L business unit goals. Develops and fosters a workplace that is customer focused and works collaboratively with all associated stakeholders. Innovates and adapts to the changing work environment.
•Manages the Product Support group, which consists of Order Processing, Customer Service Reps (CSRs), and Proposal Specialists, to achieve excellent customer service and fast and efficient quotation to order fulfillment processes.
•Builds effective teams, motivates and drives results within the group.
•Responsible for setting department goals and objectives.
•Responsible for the training and development of the team to accomplish organizational goals.
•Demonstrates a working knowledge of B&W products.
•Possesses the ability to read engineering drawings, bills of materials/shop order pages, and technical contract information. The ability to read complex customer specifications and provide guidance to team members. Know how to determine if customer specifications are met by B&W specifications or other industry specifications. If not, understand the cost impact for compliance.
•Able to research drawings, specifications, text notes, bills of material.
•Knowledge of Data Warehouse PLM, VIS and how to use it.
•Knowledge of the B&W Engineering Standards
•Work directly with Regional Parts Managers to meet financial targets & customer’s needs
•Establishes deadlines, assigns work and balances workload to assure that goals and deadlines are met.
•Monitors and forecasts backlog and resources. Ensures proper resource level, reviews available manpower.
•Makes judgment on technical risks and deviations from technical standards. Participates in the development of standards and ensures that technical standards are maintained and met.
•Responsible for understanding of complex risk issues that have both technical and commercial facets and highlights the issues. Makes recommendations for solving the issues.
•Drives group initiatives and goals, such as handling the growing volume of quote work while still maintaining quick quote turnaround times.
•Manage the On-Call (after hours) team for Replacement Parts.
•Create PAR documents as needed and be involved in PAR discussions.
•Be aware of and communicate changes to project approach (i.e. Customer Rewards, Commissions, PMI, etc.).
•Collaborate with other business units (e.g. Tech Design) to drive success.
•Monitor workload and staff and hire as necessary.
Qualifications
•Minimum of 10 years’ experience with Replacement Parts and/or working knowledge of B&W core product lines
