The process engineer has two major functions: process control design and development and process engineering.
- Investigate and implement ways to improve product throughput, recovery, and quality.
- Actively investigate and implement ways to reduce costs in the milling & packaging processes.
- Provide engineering support and guidance for Montana Operations.
- Interact closely with Montana operations, maintenance, procurement, Pilot Plant, assisting with execution of capital projects and other plant process changes.
- Review and prepare controls standards.
- Improve controls throughout the site to bring added value to the operations.
These areas of expertise will ensure that our technology process is up to date, adequate to meet customer needs and economically viable.
- Provide troubleshooting process support.
- Maintain and develop process flowsheets for site operations
- Developing/implementing capital projects.
- Developing Business Improvement Ideas (BIP) & follow-through on their implementation.
- Develop/generate reports summarizing plant performance.
- Designs, and implements efficient manufacturing processes within an industrial mill setting
- Analyzes workflows, identifies constrictions, and develops solutions to improve production quality, and maximizes efficiency while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements across the site, and works closely with engineers at other locations.
- Develop/pursue action items with regards to plant throughput, energy consumption, water use, chemical usage, recovery, and quality.
- Actively update SOPs and isolation procedures to promote safety.
- Work with operations and maintenance to improve planning, scheduling and execution of newly developed processes and provide the lead new process installation start-ups and assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment as needed.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to operators.
- Assist with the installation and commissioning of equipment.
- Collaborate with maintenance planners and supervisors to implement process changes/improvements.
- Assist the Production Coordinators, Supervisors, Sr. Engineers, Production Engineers and Superintendents as necessary.
- College/University Education: bachelor’s degree or higher in any engineering discipline with chemical, mechanical, mineral processing engineering preferred.
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in the mineral processing or manufacturing industry is required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and planning skills. Able to manage multiple and competing priorities and prioritize tasks appropriately. Project management skills desirable.
- Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Outlook). Experience with Microsoft SharePoint desirable.
- CAD experience is preferred but not required
- Pi, HMI, Factory Talk familiarity is desirable
- Possess a high attention to detail to manage accounts accurately and efficiently
- Able to interpret, summarize and communicate complex information to achieve results.
- Knowledge of company’s products including their characterization, raw materials, production processes, quality management systems, markets, and end-uses is a plus.
