Essential Job Duties

- Provides chemical engineering support to the plant Process Engineering Group.

- Responsible for accurately measuring plant production and consumption of raw materials and completing the month end close process.

- Plant Process Steward whose responsibilities include the review and approval of each MOC. Process Steward designation may be according to process technology, engineering discipline, or combination of both.

- Act as a Management of Change Coordinator.

- Provides detailed process design for Plant process modifications.

- Manages process engineering studies and provides technical assistance to Plant operations.

- Conducts operation and performance reviews of Plant process equipment and make recommendations for reducing Plant operating costs and improving efficiencies. Fully participates in the PIP program.

- Communicates oral and written process designs, recommendations and other technical issues to the engineering staff and other Plant personnel in a manner that is timely, concise, factual and thorough.

- Troubleshoots major/repetitive process equipment problems.

- Provides both process and detail design engineering on small, well-defined capital projects.

- Develops Plant operating procedures in accordance with ISO standards.

- Serves as trained and qualified backup for Process Supervisors.

- Conduct safety meetings, job observations, and planned inspections per OxyChem Safety Spreadsheet requirements. Participates in Incident Investigation Review meetings.

- Actively pursues methods to reduce waste generation and releases. Adheres to the guidelines of Oxy’s long range environmental plan.

- Manages the process safety program to comply with OSHA and ISO standards.

- Actively support plant and corporate safety, environmental, and quality programs and objectives.

Qualifications - External

- B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering

- 3+ years of plant engineering experience

- Good written and oral communication skills

- Understanding of HESS policies and a strong commitment for continuous improvement in HESS

- Must be able to perform the following physical demands: Must have the ability to quickly go to all parts of the plant unassisted, including those accessible only by stairs and ladders. Must have acceptable vision to perform job duties safely and must be able to hear and understand emergency alarms or other emergency communications. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment. Must be able to exit facility in expedient manner during an emergency situation.
