Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Principal Commissioning Engineer opportunity to support the Savannah River Site. Work Location: Aiken, SC Application Deadline: 04/14/25 (noon ET) Principal Commissioning Engineer- Duties:
•Support the SRNS Nuclear & Criticality Safety Engineering organization in the development, review, and implementation of nuclear safety documentation for various facilities at the Savannah River Site.
•Provide technical assistance in developing and reviewing nuclear safety documents and analyses, technical safety requirements, and related technical support documentation.
•Ensure that the developed nuclear safety documentation complies with requirements and as necessary, applicable controls are implemented in field procedures.
•Conduct Nuclear Safety Program assessments and maintain program manuals.
•Apply technical experience in field of specialization or broad-based experience in multiple technical fields, and use other technical resources within the company, to resolve complex problems.
•Incorporate advanced technical practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes and difficult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning.
•Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as having expertise in a functional area(s) of technical expertise.
•Develop solutions to complex technical problems in fields of expertise.
•Keep informed on technical needs within the company and technical trends in area of expertise in the external world.
•Be aware of capabilities of the work group and needs of its customers.
•Identify technical programs which can be carried out with little guidance and take the initiative to accomplish them.
•Lead task teams for developing solutions to more complex problems.
•Prepare plans including schedules, budgets and personnel requirements for solving major technical tasks identified by management.
•Develop schedules, monitor progress, monitor expenditures of budget and review quality of work performed.
•Include research, development, testing, quality assurance requirements.
•Communicate the results and objectives verbally and in manuscript form to customers, colleagues, managers and oversight groups.
•Prepare reports for external publication.
Education/Yrs. Of Experience:
•Ph.D. degree in applicable science or engineering discipline and 5+ years’ experience OR a MS with 8+ years’ experience OR a BS with 10+ years’ experience or more.
Skills/Experience:
•Personnel shall have technical knowledge of Commissioning/Startup Testing, including experience working in the following technical areas/labor categories: Conduct of Startup Testing, Design reviews, Procedure development & Test Execution.
•Demonstrated previous experience with the use and implementation of Manual 5E, Startup Test Program, and related directives and standards, or an equivalent Commissioning/Startup program.
•Demonstrated previous experience in developing, reviewing, approval and presenting Technical Work Documents/Commissioning Test Procedures.
•Demonstrated personal accountability for facility/project schedules, deadlines, budgets, and the safe performance of work.
•Demonstrated a minimum of 1 year of recent testing experience through support of the Department of Energy (DOE) or the commercial nuclear industry.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years.
•Startup Testing Execution qualification(s) Level II or III (per ASME NQA-1 test program).
Other Job Requirements:
•Able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance (clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties).
