Position overview:
American Tool & Die is seek Large Press Operators for the Day shift and Night shifts. You will play a crucial role in the production of precision components by operating and maintaining large press machines. You will be responsible for setting up, adjusting, and running presses to produce high-quality stamped parts while ensuring they meet the company’s strict quality standards.
In this role, you will interpret blueprints, load raw materials into presses, monitor machine performance, and perform routine maintenance to ensure smooth operations. You will also be expected to identify any issues that may arise during production and take immediate corrective action to prevent delays.
This position demands a keen eye for detail, strong mechanical skills, and the ability to follow safety protocols rigorously. Effective communication and teamwork with fellow operators, maintenance staff, and other departments are essential to meet production targets efficiently.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with large presses, a solid understanding of mechanical operations, and a commitment to upholding the highest safety and quality standards in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
•Operating Machinery: Using computer-controlled or manual presses to shape, cut, or form materials according to specifications.
•Setup and Calibration: Preparing presses by setting up dies, adjusting controls, and loading materials.
•Monitoring and Adjustment: Watching the press during operation, making adjustments to ensure proper functioning and consistent output.
•Quality Control: Inspecting finished products for quality, accuracy, and defects, and addressing any issues that arise.
•Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting malfunctions, and making minor repairs.
•Documentation: Recording production data, inventory, and other relevant information.
•Following Procedures: Adhering to safety protocols, production standards, and quality control guidelines.
Qualifications
•The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating large stamping presses and related equipment, with a strong understanding of die setup, part inspection, and press maintenance. Familiarity with progressive and transfer dies is highly preferred.
•Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong work ethic, physical stamina, and the capacity to handle heavy machinery and materials safely.
•Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to make real-time adjustments to press operations and support continuous improvement efforts.
•Thorough knowledge of manufacturing safety standards, including Lockout/Tagout procedures, PPE use, and machine guarding protocols.
•Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and production schematics.
•Ability to perform routine press maintenance and minor mechanical repairs to ensure equipment uptime and product quality.
•Completion of specialized training or certification in press operations or industrial machinery is required.
•A technical degree or vocational training in a mechanical or manufacturing-related field is a plus.
