Position Summary::
Completes multiple water and wastewater facility tasks associated with the water and wastewater treatment facilities.
Criteria: Education/Experience:
High school diploma (GED).
Skills/Abilities:
Must possess mechanical and technical skills.

Physical Demands:
The ability to use a computer keyboard effectively. The ability to orally communicate by phone and person to person. The ability to see and read printed material. The ability to lift, carry, and use heavy tools and materials. The ability to climb and perform work from a ladder. The ability to safely operate a standard equipped company motor vehicle. The ability to safely operate standard equipped company ground maintenance equipment, including tractors and trimmers, etc. The ability to enter/exit 22” diameter accessways and work in confined spaces.
Work Environment:
Indoor and outdoor conditions. Exposure to chemicals, wastewater and related gases. Required to work in permit required confined space locations. Required to utilize Lockout/Tagout procedures as well as other safety procedures. Location and work hours are determined by Management and may be adjusted as needed.
Driving:
Must be able to acquire and maintain a valid TN Class “B” license with tanker endorsement within 6 months of employment.
Telephone:
Must maintain an operating telephone and furnish the number to his/her supervisor.
Essential Functions:
- Performs general maintenance, cleaning, painting, sweeping, and minor repair duties at all water and wastewater facilities.
- Assists Press Operations technicians in the operation and maintenance of the solids handling facility.
- Uses pressure washer and steam cleaner to clean headworks, clarifiers, etc.
- Inspects and maintains fire extinguishers.
- Unloads and stores supplies, equipment, and/or parts.
- Operates weed-eaters, pump sprayers, and spray rigs to maintain sites.
- Removes snow and ice from sidewalks and steps.
- Assists with special projects and events.
- Receives and treats grease from the Grease Program and the treatment process.
- Transports solids derived from the dewatering press and other solids handling facilities.
- Maintains a clean solids handling facility and work area.
- Empties dumpsters and orders dumpster pickup as needed.
- Maintains all equipment in clean, greased, and operable condition.
- Performs analysis and collection of samples for solids performance evaluation.
- Assist Plant Operators with collecting samples and receiving chemical shipments, etc.
- Operates heavy equipment such as skid steer, backhoe, dozer, manual shift dump truck, forklift and Vactor truck.
- Maintains accurate records.
- Interacts with internal and external customers in a professional manner.
- Observes all safety procedures and practices.
- Performs additional duties as requested.
