Our work plays a critical role in communities we serve across Idaho and Oregon, and we’re working hard to provide our customers with the safe, reliable, affordable energy they depend on.

What does a Pre-Apprentice Generation Specialist do for us?

This is a training position, designed to prepare future Generation Specialists for work in a team-based environment. These individuals will learn how to operate and maintain a hydro plant and associated equipment.

- Complete assigned tasks, including preventive and corrective maintenance on the power facilities, buildings, hatcheries, roads, parks, and other associated equipment as well as completing necessary upgrades

- Demonstrate the aptitude to be promoted to an Apprentice Generation Specialist position

- Aptitude will be demonstrated through on-the-job evaluations, a skills assessment and performance evaluations

- If aptitude is not sufficiently demonstrated, termination of employment will occur

Pre-Apprentices will be eligible to bid full-time, regular Apprentice Generation Specialist positions as they become available. If unsuccessful in obtaining an Apprentice position within 24 months of hire, they will be released from employment.

In addition to the meaningful work we do, we offer work-life balance, competitive pay and benefits, an employee incentive plan, and both a 401k employer-match and a pension plan, making Idaho Power one of the best employers in the state.
