In this role, you will help shape the future of the power grid by supporting the delivery of advanced Grid Quality Solutions across North America. As a Project Technical Engineer, you will work on engineering activities that strengthen grid stability, improve performance, and contribute to the wider energy transition. You will manage technical work across the full project lifecycle—supporting engineering design, construction, and commissioning while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and external partners. Grounded in real project execution, your work will influence safety, reliability, and compliance within high‑voltage substation environments. This role gives you the opportunity to apply your electrical engineering training to impactful, hands‑on projects while gaining exposure to technologies such as GIS, PASS, and modern BIM workflows. You will contribute to delivering efficient, cost‑effective solutions that help customers operate a more resilient, high‑performing grid.
- Run engineering activities throughout the full project lifecycle.
- Coordinate work with multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
- Serve as the main technical contact for project stakeholders.
- Develop cost‑effective solutions and support proposal activities.
- Apply safety, quality, and contract standards across engineering tasks.
- Support construction and commissioning phases.
- Investigate risks and apply mitigation steps.
- Produce detailed design documents and technical drawings.
- Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
- Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
- 2+ years of experience with power system substations.- Solid knowledge of NEC, ANSI/IEEE, and high‑voltage substation design.
- Familiarity with power system technologies such as GIS and PASS.
- Experience working in EPC project environments.
- Proficiency with BIM/Autodesk Construction Cloud and Revit.
- Professional Engineering (PE) License or ability to obtain.
