Job Summary:

Are you passionate about the energy sector and eager to start your career at a generating station? The Columbia Energy Center in Pardeeville, WI, is offering a fantastic opportunity for a Power Plant Assistant - Special Temp. This entry-level position is perfect for those looking to gain hands-on experience in the power industry.

As a Power Plant Assistant, you'll perform various tasks around the plant, including work in the turbine, pump room, and boiler.

This temporary role is expected to last until the plant transitions from coal to gas operations. You'll work a 12-hour rotating schedule, with day shifts from 6:00am to 6:00pm and night shifts from 6:00pm to 6:00am. Relief hours may be required for vacation coverage, vacancies, and service needs. The schedule is subject to change based on plant requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:

- Routine cleaning and janitorial work.

- Provides stores support. Performs unskilled and semi-skilled physical work required in the various operations of any department of the power plant.

- Performs maintenance of buildings, equipment and grounds as assigned.

- Performs other duties which are similar, related or incidental to the position.

- Train for Equipment Operator - Operations position.

Supervision

- Work performed under the supervision of the salaried or hourly supervisor as assigned.

Education Experience

- High School Diploma or GED Required

Experience

- 2 years’ experience and/or equivalent in an electric generating facility, steam generating station.

Other Requirements

- Must possess a valid driver's license.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- General knowledge of mathematics and science at the high school level

- Ability to work with others.

- Mechanical ability. Knowledge of fuel-handling or heavy equipment and the layout of operation of a generating station.

- Ability to perform the physical requirements for the job.

- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

Pay Range:

$35.00 - $55.00
