Plant Manager – Indiana

VersaTube is a leading producer of do-it-yourself steel building kits. From the personalized design of each building through assembling the structure with basic home tools, VersaTube provides a complete customer-empowering experience.

We are searching for a Plant Manager to join our rapidly growing company! This is an on-site position located in Elkhart, Indiana. In this role, you will be responsible for directing and managing all activities for the Arizona location including: all manufacturing, personnel, maintenance, quality, safety, and shipping. You will also monitor and report on KPIs including Gross Margin.

Responsibilities and Tasks include, but are not limited to:

Manage the Plant

- Plan plant activities to ensure manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a safe, timely, quality, and cost-effective manner

- Responsible for the entire operations of a manufacturing plant

- React to and solve problems quickly

- Implement cost-effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, repairs, and maintenance of the plant

- Monitor for the effective use of material and labor resources, including the control of labor and overtime

- Monitor inventory to ensure supplies are available when needed, but are not over-stocked

- Oversee all shipments, incoming inventory, and storage operations

- Implement and maintain preventative maintenance programs

- Ensure shop floor organization and plant cleanliness

Participate in Production Improvement and Growth

- Collaborate with all sites on process improvement ideas, opportunities, and standardization

- Drive the successful implementation and adoption of process changes

- Ensure that staff is following SOPs for standardization and quality control

- Participate in root cause meetings when issues arise

- Celebrate site “wins” with the staff and the rest of the company

Manage and Develop Site Staff

- Develop KPIs to measure individual’s job performance

- Mentor team members on lean manufacturing and how to continually look for ways to optimize and streamline their work

- Provide regular feedback to ensure team members have a clear sense of direction and focus

- Manage hiring, onboarding, retention, performance, and termination processes

- Provide on-the-job training programs

- Create growth opportunities for current team members

- Provide performance evaluations

- Challenge and maximize the strength of the teams

- Build a trusting relationship with workers

Education

- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field

Experience

- 5 years plant/general management experience in a manufacturing environment

- Fabrication experience a plus

- OSHA training

Qualifications/Interpersonal Skills

- Knowledge of ISO 9000, Lean management, Six Sigma, or other manufacturing effectiveness training

- Knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation and human resources)

- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and computer technology

- Strong leadership, team building, and analytical decision-making skills

- Self‐motivated with an energetic positive attitude

- Team building, decision making and people management skills

- Familiarity with the Steel industry

- Ability to create accountability and to lead by example

- Highly organized with strong attention to detail

- Proven work experience as a successful Plant Manager

Travel Required:

VersaTube has three other locations: Collierville, Tennessee (headquarters); Nampa, Idaho; and Tolleson, Arizona. Travel to other locations may be required for initial or periodic training.
