What You’ll Do Promote Safety.

Take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation for yourself and others at all times in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards.

Equipment Inspection and Maintenance

- Follow a preventative maintenance schedule for equipment to avoid unexpected breakdowns, which might involve component changes, tear-downs, and rebuilds.

- Inspecting and replacing key components that are crucial for maintaining efficient plant operations. Technicians must understand how replacing or servicing parts affects the overall performance and longevity of the equipment.

- Troubleshooting the root cause of simple issues quickly and efficiently. Maintenance Technicians should be able to fix minor equipment issues immediately to avoid larger breakdowns and ensure minimal downtime.

Plant Operations and Maintenance Requirements

- Monitor equipment performance, such as crushers, screens, and conveyors, to ensure equipment is operating at full capacity.

- Reviewing and updating equipment logs to identify patterns in maintenance needs and determine if any equipment is being overused or consistently breaking down, adjusting the operational schedule, or suggesting repairs before larger issues arise.

Handle and Move Objects.

Handle, install, position, and move parts, materials, and industrial hand tools in a safe manner throughout the shop and plant.

Document and Record Information.

Ensure correct and accurate documentation is completed on a daily and monthly basis regarding all mobile equipment. Enter and maintain service reports for all the mobile equipment in written or electronic form.

Operate Equipment.

Assist in driving heavy equipment and vehicles throughout the plant when necessary in order to ensure production continues in an efficient manner.

Perform General Physical Activities.

Perform physical activities that require moving your whole body and considerable use of your arms and legs, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.

Skills You’ll Need Additional Responsibilities.

Other duties as assigned.

Experience.

Previous experience working on diesel or heavy construction equipment is preferred.

Knowledge of Best Practices.

Knowledge of general principles and practices of servicing heavy construction equipment is preferred.

Flexibility.

Must be willing to work overtime and extended hours depending on customer and company demands. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather conditions and tolerate being exposed to loud noises.

Mechanical Skills.

Must have some knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance.

Salary

. The salary is prescribed by the applicable collective bargaining agreement. Candidates will be placed according to union contract salary scale at

$43.47

per hour.
