The Maintenance Foreman is responsible for the day-to-day supervision and execution of planned maintenance (PMs) and corrective repairs for all equipment, structures, and the grounds at the District’s domestic wastewater treatment plant (WWTP). It requires a high degree of technical competence in the maintenance and repair of complex equipment and processes and requires significant managerial experience. The position leads a diverse team including plant mechanics and electricians, and ensures the efficient, safe, and compliant execution of maintenance activities. The Maintenance Foreman is part of the Operations Team and reports directly to the Plant Manager. The District is a 24-hour per day, 365-day/year operation and a person in this position will be required to periodically work overtime, including nights, holidays, weekends and in response to emergencies.
· Oversee the repair and maintenance of process equipment including pumps, valves, blowers, motors, HVAC systems, electrical panels, PLCs, SCADA-related components, and other WWTP infrastructure.
· Use PowerBI and other electronic software and analytical tools to track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for maintenance productivity, efficiency, and backlog reduction.
· Responsible for setting and maintaining inventory levels for critical spare parts, supplies and equipment to ensure timely procurement to support operational readiness and efficient systems maintenance.
· Coordinate emergency maintenance work and participate in after-hours response as required.
· Ensure compliance with District safety protocols, environmental regulations, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
· Responsible for creating, reviewing and updating standard operating procedures to document relevant responsibilities and work tasks of the Maintenance Team.
· Participate in the hiring, firing and promotion process for all subordinate staff.
· Manage team performance, including conducting semi-annual and/or annual performance evaluations. The evaluations will include providing subordinate staff with critical and constructive feedback as well as setting appropriate goals and providing the Plant Manager with recommended pay rate increases.
· Responsible for establishing and coordinating on-the-job training and mentorship to junior staff.
· Collaborate with other District departments as required to provide project specific support and services, when appropriate.
· Ensures the treatment facility and associated equipment operates within the parameters of the Florida Department of Environmental (FDEP) WWTP Operating Permit
· Has considerable latitude for the use of independent judgment in selection of work methods and procedures.
· Required to perform as an Essential staff member prior to, during and after a declared emergency
