Monday – Thursday or Tuesday – Friday, 6:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Under the direction of the Supervisor-Power Station Maintenance, performs janitorial and minor maintenance duties in the power station and assigned adjacent outside areas.
1. General care, maintenance, and janitorial upkeep of assigned area. This includes but is not limited to: floors, windows, lavatory fixtures, and office and plant equipment.
3. Yard and outdoor care, maintenance, and upkeep. This includes, but is not limited to: mowing, pruning, spraying, weed eating, fertilizing, and snow removal.
4. Performs painting, minor carpentry work, changes light bulbs, and performs other minor maintenance work.
5. Must be able to operate and perform routine maintenance on all equipment utilized.
6. Works safely and encourages safe work of others.
8. Performs other related duties and functions as required or assigned by management.
High school education or equivalent is preferred. At least one year of experience using janitorial equipment and supplies is required. Must have six months industrial and lawn equipment operational experience. Must have six months experience cleaning and sanitizing bathrooms, vacuuming floors, and using cleaning supplies in an industrial field or be able to demonstrate a strong aptitude for custodial, facility service, or related through previous work experience. Additional knowledge of power cleaning equipment preferred. Must have a strong, steady work history as well as some experience working independently with minimal supervision.
Must have a valid driver’s license (minimum Class F).
o Work around moving and rotating machinery while cleaning.
o Work safely with limited supervision.
o Maintain inventory of janitorial supplies.
o Use appropriate janitorial supplies for cleaning.
o Maintain a clean working environment of assigned area.
o Schedule/prioritize assigned workloads.
o Operate industrial and lawn equipment.
o Fix minor repair/maintenance on industrial and lawn equipment.
o Able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
o Work courteously with customers and coworkers.
o Work with chemicals and hazardous cleaning material in a safe manner.
o Learn LOTO procedures (Lock Out/Tag Out) due to working around power plant equipment.
o Successfully navigate various electronic programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suites, other applicable information technology applications, and self-service platforms.
Physical requirements include: sitting, standing, grasping, bending, crouching, reaching, balancing, twisting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and climbing. Must be physically able to perform some custodial duties at heights. Must be able to respond to audible and visual alarms, including safety and production alarms. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Must be able to work within the rated capacity of the utility’s aerial lifts, ladders, fall restraint devices, and/or other job-related equipment.
Works indoors or outdoors in an industrial plant atmosphere. May work in proximity to low and high voltages, heat, noise, toxic chemicals, toxic vegetation, and insects. May be required to wear a respirator. Must be clean-shaven such that facial hair will not interfere with the respirator seal during annual fit testing of respiratory protection and when required to wear the respirator on the job.
