Venture Global LNG ("Venture Global") is a long-term, low-cost provider of American-produced liquefied natural gas. The company's two Louisiana-based export projects service the global demand for North American natural gas and support the long-term development of clean and reliable North American energy supplies. This is a contract position located in Cameron, LA.
Typical duties and responsibilities
- Conduct inspections: Perform visual and technical inspections of new or existing pipelines and related facilities, such as tanks and pump stations.
- Monitor construction activities: Observe and verify all construction phases, including excavations, trenching, grading, and pipe installation.
- Test materials: Inspect pipes and other materials to ensure they meet quality and design specifications. Duties include:
- Verifying material test reports (MTRs).
- Checking pipe dimensions, such as diameter and wall thickness.
- Inspecting protective pipe coatings for defects and proper application.
- Oversee welding: Monitor welding crews and inspect completed welds for quality and integrity. This may include:
- Ensuring welders are certified and following approved procedures.
- Witnessing and monitoring non-destructive testing (NDT) methods.
- Review project documents: Interpret and verify that construction is executed according to plans, specifications, contracts, and blueprints.
- Perform testing: Conduct or witness field tests, such as pressure testing, flushing, and disinfectant sampling for water and sewer lines.
- Document findings: Create clear, concise, and accurate daily reports, logs, and correspondence. This includes documenting project progress, non-conformities, and corrective actions.
- Enforce regulations: Ensure all work is compliant with federal, state, and local regulations and safety guidelines.
- Problem-solve: Make decisions to meet field conditions and resolve conflicts with contractors to ensure compliance.
- Liaise with project stakeholders: Communicate and maintain professional relationships with contractors, engineers, and client representatives.
- Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is the minimum requirement, with an associate or bachelor's degree often preferred for advanced positions.
- Experience: Several years of experience in construction, welding, or a related field are typically required.
- Certifications: Specialized certifications demonstrate knowledge and expertise. Examples include:
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) from the American Welding Society (AWS).
- Skills:
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- The ability to read and interpret complex plans and blueprints.
- Proficiency with computers and inspection software.
- Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of testing equipment.
- Work environment: The job involves both office work (reviewing reports, blueprints) and field work (on-site inspections). Inspectors must be prepared to work outdoors in various weather conditions and may need to navigate uneven or hazardous terrain.
- Physical demands: The role may require physical activities such as standing for long periods, climbing, crawling in tight spaces, and lifting equipment.
