Assignment Description
The Superintendent Mechanical Piping is the FLNG construction senior technical assurance representative onsite for mechanical piping systems work and is responsible for these activities across the site. He is directly responsible to the FLNG Area Construction Manager for onsite management and coordination of this work ensuring that all piping systems setup, welding, supports , assemblies or fabrications are executed in accordance with drawings, documentation and specifications consistent with FLNG requirements
Objectives of the position
- Ensure everyone goes home safely every day. Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations.
- Participates in the development of the overall construction quality assurance execution philosophy, strategy and objectives for piping system?s installations.
- Ensures the FLNG construction quality assurance inspection team implements the quality philosophy correctly on time and budget without a lost time incident.
- Assists the contractors with input to identify key success factors and implement improving productivity and quality.
- Assure FLNG that the mechanical piping portions of the project will be furnished and installed on schedule
- Committed to ensure that everyone goes home safely each day.
- Provides technical expertise to evaluate mechanical piping work?s execution for compliance to contract, design data, schedule/cost budgets and quality
- Works with and through the EPC contractors and their respective construction managers to achieve the following:
- Provide a safe work place by ensuring implementation of the onsite requirements of the Construction Health, Safety, Security and Environmental Plan.
- Participates in site inductions, tool box meetings and other safety meetings.
- Works proactivity with the contractor on hazard recognition and unsafe work practices
- Ensure that the safe working practices are carried out in accordance with the approved safety plan and method statements
- Work with construction contractor's superintendents to improve safety, productivity and schedule and scope of work issues
- Responsible for initiating any changes required to correct deficiencies which are identified through the inspections and audits.
- Maintain close contact with the FLNG project QC manager, discipline superintendent during the construction and pre commissioning phases of the project.
- Maintain close contact with the Area Construction Manager during the construction and pre commissioning phases of the project in order to ensure an adequate flow of information regarding activities and material deliveries to the construction sites to meet established schedule, cost and productivity objectives.
- Participate in reviews of construction schedules and milestones and monitor project progress against the established Master Project Schedule.
- Assists technical assurance inspection team for issues concerning adherence to specification, codes or standards
- Monitors daily progress and records observations of quantities installed
- Inspects the quality of the work on a daily basis
- Reviews contractor's work progress and inspection program and assigns FLNG technical assurance inspectors
- Maintains close liaison with other discipline supervision to ensure effective coordination of work activities
- Signs to endorse mechanical static equipment test results.
- Reviews contractor's inspections and tests with technical assurance team.
- Participates in the Risk Management Program and assists in the identification of risks and actions to eliminates or mitigate the risks.
- Provides leadership to the FLNG mechanical piping team and creates the project environment to deliver the desired results through teamwork, support and recognition.
- Prepares punch lists and expedites the rework correction.

- Minimum of 10 years' experience in engineering roles, with a focus on capital projects in the oil & gas, refinery, or industrial sectors.
- Strong technical expertise in engineering design, analysis, and project execution, with knowledge of industry best practices and standards.
- Experience with LNG projects and familiarity with FERC and PHMSA regulations are a positive.
- Project Engineering experience with capital projects and / or turnaround work in an operating facility.
- Prior EPC experience working in a construction environment, particularly in roles such as Technical Service Manager, Discipline Lead, Foreman, or Supervisor, is a plus
