Founded in 2007, today, B2Gold has operating gold mines in Mali, Namibia and the Philippines, the Goose Project under construction in northern Canada, and numerous development and exploration projects in various countries including Mali, Colombia and Finland.

Position

Payroll Manager, Edmonton

Location and Reporting Structure

Reporting to the Manager, Finance, this position will be based in Edmonton

Responsibilities

- Oversee time administration and payroll, including quality assurance, for all employees - hourly, salaried and daily paid groups;

- Ensure all payroll operations are compliant with internal controls under Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) regulations and relevant labor laws.

- Maintain and regularly test payroll-related controls, documentation, and audit trails.

- Work closely with People, Finance, and Compliance teams to align payroll processes with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.

- Manage relationships with payroll service providers and internal stakeholders to resolve payroll issues promptly.

- Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement, automation, and efficiency.

- Prepare and support internal and external audits, including providing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.

- Train and guide team members and stakeholders on payroll policies, procedures, and SOX compliance requirements.

- Apply a focused skill set in financial controls, ensuring compliance through regular audits, internal controls, and governance of compensation and payroll practices.

- Lead the end-to-end payroll cycle, ensuring compliance with applicable tax regulations and aligning payroll architecture with business and operational needs.

Desired Competencies and Requirements

- Seven (7) years of Payroll with at least five (5) years in a professional work capacity leading Payroll and financial controls in a similar environment pertaining to organizational size and complexity.

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field;

- Licensing through the National Payroll Institute as a Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) with preference for a Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP); and

- Proficiency in HRIS systems related to payroll and financial components and a robust understanding of the Sox Control environment.
