The Payroll Accountant & Analyst will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while providing analytical support to improve payroll systems, procedures, and reporting. This hybrid role combines operational payroll processing with budgeting, accounting reconciliations and analysis, making it ideal for professionals who enjoy both the precision of accounting and the problem-solving aspects of data analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
•Process bi-weekly and monthly payrolls, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
•Process benefit costs, deductions, garnishments, and other payroll adjustments
•Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and team member inquiries in a timely manner
•Review 401K deductions, prepare 401K deposits and maintain record of contribution amounts
•Perform payroll accounting activities including reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger maintenance
•Partner with HR and Finance departments to ensure seamless integration of payroll functions
•Maintain and continuously improve procedures to streamline payroll processes and enhance efficiency
•Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations
•Assist with audits and special projects related to payroll operations
•Prepare comprehensive payroll reports and forecasts for senior management
•Analyze compensation-related data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement
•Attend all meetings and training
Skills/Qualifications:
•Minimum 3-5 years of experience in payroll processing and accounting
•Strong understanding of payroll tax laws, wage and hour regulations, and reporting requirements
•Proficiency with payroll software systems and Microsoft Excel
•Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
•Strong problem-solving abilities and process improvement mindset
•Effective communication skills for interacting with team members at all levels, while maintaining a polite, confidential and professional attitude
•Demonstrates consistent punctuality and reliable attendance
•Maintains a positive, can-do attitude in all workplace interactions
•Fosters a positive work environment through optimism and constructive communication
