As the Operations Manager at the Richmond Transfer Station, you will play a critical role in leading the safe, efficient, and compliant execution of daily operations. You'll set the tone for a strong safety culture, environmental responsibility, and operational excellence across your team. With strong technical knowledge of the facility and a focus on leadership, you will coach, mentor, and support your team to achieve performance goals while upholding SECURE’s values and standards.

The role of Operations Manager is structured as a full-time position, working 5 days a week, 40-hours, with the potential for overtime depending on operational demands and deadlines.
The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
Team Leadership: Lead and support a team of supervisors, operators, drivers, and support staff by offering training and guidance to ensure safe and efficient performance. Foster a strong team culture built on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategic plans, stay informed on industry trends and emerging opportunities, and work collaboratively with senior leadership to support long-term growth and sustainability initiatives.
Operational Management: Oversee the safe, efficient, and compliant daily operations of the waste management facility, including the collection, transport, sorting, recycling, and disposal of materials, while focusing on efficient resource utilization and waste reduction.
Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance: Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations by fostering a strong safety culture, implementing relevant protocols and training, and monitoring operations to reduce environmental impact.
Quality Assurance and Compliance: Implement quality control measures to maintain a high standard of service, carry out routine inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, and oversee the management of permits, licenses, and approvals for waste management operations.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and maintain positive working relationships with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities. Respond to questions and concerns in a timely manner, and work alongside sales and marketing teams to explore opportunities for business growth and customer retention.
Financial Management: Develop and oversee budgets, monitor financial performance to identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue growth, and ensure operations are delivered within budget while supporting overall profitability.
Reporting and Communication: Prepare and deliver reports on operational performance and financial results, share regular updates with senior leadership and key stakeholders, and engage in industry events to stay current on trends and best practices.
