GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:
This position is responsible for providing engineering service and technical support to the Hot
Mill operations with respect to enhancing productivity, improving yield and reducing cost.
Support the operations team by recommending areas of improvement, supporting floor
operations, and solving day-to-day issues related to yield and productivity.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Maintain a good understanding of all Hot Mill production processes and material flow
throughout the Hot Mill.
2. Reviews production lines in Long Products utilizing Lean Manufacturing Principles and
Problem Solving Techniques like SMED to identify projects capable of providing
solutions to improve productivity levels and/or quality.
3. Work with area Supervisor, Group Leader, Maintenance Engineer, COQ Engineer and
QC Engineer to accomplish timely completion of projects.
4. Monitors yield and quality of finish lines to relate back to processing at Rolling Mill,
seeking opportunities to improve rolling process to optimize final yieldquality
5. Work with Quality, Engineers, to ensure that any changes/improvement in the process
flow/control is adequately documented and is positively reflected on the company's
quality reports and balance sheet.
6. Track and analyze yield loss by product type, production line, and crew; and make
recommendations to maximize yield based on trend analysis and/or materials knowledge.
7. Monitor safety standards in all operation areas of the Hot Mill.
8. Always investigate ways to improve safety in regard to operation procedures, equipment
functionality, automation controls and proper training and awareness.
9. Develops methods and supplies data ranges to track critical process parameters to build
Statistical Process Control models used for monitoring the rolling process in real time.
SUPPLEMENTAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

MINIMUM EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering field; Metallurgy or Mechanical preferred.
Zero to two years' experience in manufacturing/ industrial setting
Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, and
the ability to multitask.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Mobility in plant
While performing the duties of (this job), the employee is regularly required to sit, stand,
walk, etc.
The employee is frequently required to make use of their hands for technical tasks
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Visual ability with or without correction
Communication abilities
HEALTH AND SAFETY:

3. Report the absence of or defect in any protective equipment or clothing to the Supervisor
or Manager immediately
4. Use or wear the equipment, protective devices or clothing that is required to be used or
worn:
a. Safety shoes
b. Safety glasses
c. Hearing protection
d. Hard Hat
Some areas may require additional personal protective equipment such as:
e. Respirators; the respirator requires you to be clean shaven in order to comply with
company policies and procedures as well as OSHA Regulations.
f. Fire Retardant clothing
g. Acid PPE
5. Report to the Safety Coordinator, Group Lead or Supervisor any contravention of the
Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations or Company policy
6. Must follow all Lock out Tag out (LOTO) guidelines for designated machines
7. Must follow all Environmental Policies and Regulations
8. Maintain a clean and safe work area
