About Vema:
Vema is a climate tech startup dedicated to revolutionizing clean hydrogen supply to drive industrial decarbonization and transition to clean fuels. Our innovative approach generates hydrogen from chemically reactive geological formations, enabling sustainable and carbon-free hydrogen production for thousands of years—pioneering a new category known Engineered Mineral Hydrogen, or stimulated geologic hydrogen.
About the Role:
We are seeking a full-time Operations Engineer to support Vema’s drilling and pilot well testing.
Your Responsibilities:
Spearheading the design and execution of drilling programs from the ground up in an exploration environment with minimal offset data or local drilling specific services. This involves:
•Using input from exploration and stimulation teams to create wellbore design (casing, mud, cement, BHA, etc) in compliance with relevant safety and environmental regulations.
•Developing a detailed well plan from the site selection & dirt work through the temporary abandonment.
Leading project management of multiple critical paths during the planning of the pilot projects to ensure on-time and within-budget execution. This includes:
•Coordinating with cross-functional teams, consultants, and external contractors.
•Implementing project management best practices, including risk assessment, change management, and stakeholder communication to mitigate potential delays and cost overruns.
Managing all phases of operations (drilling, stimulation, and flowback) during pilot
projects.
Implementing supply chain best practices including a competitive bidding process and
MSA (Master Service Agreement) compliance tracking.
Contributing to the development of the company's drilling strategy and long-term field
development plans.
As an early hire in a rapidly scaling startup, your role will evolve, offering opportunities for
increased responsibility. You will play a pivotal role in driving company growth, and climate
impact of Vema.
