Your Opportunity

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Watershed Planning & Source Protection, the Nutrient Management Plan Coordinator leads and creates the Grindstone Creek Watershed Nutrient Management Plan.

- Develops the Grindstone Creek Watershed Nutrient Management Plan, leading planning, coordination and scheduling of project milestones

- Coordinates the analysis of existing monitoring data (such as water quality and geomorphology), and the watershed attributes that affect it

- Develops a detailed watershed characterization using the assembled watershed data related to nutrient transport and water quality

- Works with technical staff to identify nutrient source areas and creates set of actionable recommendations to reduce nutrient inputs to Grindstone Creek, particularly phosphorus, based on data analysis

- Undertakes stakeholder engagement in the development of the Plan

- Develops all communications to identify target audiences and develops messaging and approaches for effective implementation of on-the-ground actions to reduce nutrient sources in Grindstone Creek watershed.

- Prepares timely and accurate project progress updates to the Senior Manager and drafts final reporting

Your Qualifications

- Post secondary education in geography, watershed management, water resources, environmental science or related

- Minimum 5 years experience in a similar role

- Strong working knowledge of watershed natural resources, scientific and technical methods for resource assessment, cause-effect environmental and human interactions that drive watershed issues, remediation and adaptation strategies, and watershed management best practices

- Experience in project management including developing project plans, targets and milestones

- Effective presentation and communication skills including excellent oral, written communication skills, effective report writing skills for both technical and non-technical audiences

- Experience working with a science-focused organization and the ability to translate more complex, scientific/technical ideas into content that broad audiences can understand and engage with

- Efficient problem solving, multi-tasking and creative thinking skills

- Experience, understanding, and application of communications and stakeholder engagement plans and strategies

- Experience in GIS software and MS Office, Database software

- A valid Ontario Drivers Licence, minimum Class “G”
