We are looking for a night shift (4:30 pm to 2:30 am) Quality Control (QC) Inspector who's main responsibilities is to ensure a quality product is produced in our shop. This person will also be a welder/fitter in our shop. To that end, the position shall consist of the following duties, responsibilities, and authority.
- Verify that dimensional requirements of all piecemarks are according to furnished drawings. This will include, but not be limited to: Overall lengths, Overall fit up of all sub-parts, Hole sizes and placement, Copes, Bevel cuts, Camber, Check for any defects in material.
- Investigate and inspect any reported questionable material that has been received, preferably before fabrication begins. Bring any questionable items to the Quality Control (QC) Manager for further review.
- Verify that pieces are properly identified.
- Check all welds. If a questionable discontinuity is found, contact the shop QC Manager, or CWI.
- Record environmental conditions at the beginning of each day. Include ambient temperature, humidity, dew point and the surface temperature of a sample piece of material in the finishing area.
- Write non-conformance tags for corrections that are made, alone with time to repair. Turn in tag to QC Manager.
- The inspector shall be professional, fair, respectful and objective at all times.
- The QC Inspector has the authority to stop work on any material that is questionable or wrong.
- Should the QC Inspector find corrections that need to be made (a non-conformance), he/she will bring it to the attention of the appropriate lead person or in their absence, the Plant Manager or QC Manager. Suggestions on how to proceed with the repair of the piecemark can be given at this time, along with any known requirements that should be followed. The lead person or appropriate individual will then be responsible for directing the repair of the material.
- Re-inspection of repaired items.
- The QC Inspector may answer questions, be a resource or offer suggestions to an employee performing work but should not be directing their actions.
