Overview
The Network Support Engineer serves as both a tactical leader and strategic driver of the company’s technology infrastructure and systems. This role is responsible for overseeing daily IT operations, supporting field and office teams, and leading technology initiatives that improve business performance. In a construction and fabrication environment, the IT Manager plays a critical role in maintaining connectivity, equipment integration, system reliability, and security across departments.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Support & Daily Management- Provide timely technical support to office, shop, and field staff, resolving hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
- Install, configure, and maintain laptops, tablets, mobile devices, printers, and jobsite technology.
- Maintain company networks, servers, cloud systems, system backups, and data integrity.
- Support project teams by ensuring field and construction software (e.g., Microvellum, AutoCAD, As Built/Scene by FARO) function effectively.
- Facilitate communication and data flow between programming computers and shop equipment such as granite fabrication systems (Park Industries) and metal cutting systems (Flow Waterjet).
- Administer Active Directory and Microsoft 365, user accounts, permissions, and IT security protocols.
- Oversee inventory and lifecycle management of all IT assets and equipment, including procurement of all computers through Dell.
- Maintain reliable internet and VPN connectivity at all jobsites and remote locations, and manage the company’s relationship with multiple ISPs.
- Assign and delegate tasks to IT support team member based on urgency, skill level, and workload.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and oversight to ensure support tickets are resolved effectively and efficiently.
- Develop and execute the company’s IT roadmap aligned with business growth and operational goals.
- Identify and implement new technologies that enhance communication, productivity, and jobsite/shop safety.
- Manage IT budgets, vendor relationships, licenses, and service contracts, including key partnerships with Dell, Comcast, Park Industries, and Flow.
- Lead cybersecurity initiatives including risk mitigation, firewalls, employee training, and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with executives and department heads to ensure IT systems support operational workflows and department goals.
- Oversee the implementation and upgrade of enterprise software systems and system integrations.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal policies related to data protection and information security.
- 5–8 years of progressive IT experience; experience in construction, fabrication, or field-based industries strongly preferred.
- In-depth technical knowledge of Windows networks, Microsoft 365, cloud services, and mobile device management.
- Experience supporting software such as Microvellum, AutoCAD, As Built/Scene (FARO), or similar tools.
- Familiarity with integrations to CNC based shop equipment.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in office, field, and shop environments.
- Proven ability to balance hands-on IT support with strategic IT leadership.
- Strong communication, organizational, and project management abilities.
- Prior experience managing or mentoring an IT support team is a plus.
