We are looking for a bright and capable candidate, preferably with prior experience working with metal, who is ready and willing to learn a new role as a CNC Laser Operator. You must be eligible to work in Canada and should be able to work flexible shifts.
Reporting to the Metal Fabrication Manager and the CNC Laser Operator, the CNC Laser Operator Apprenticeis responsible for setting up, programming, operating and maintaining the CNC Laser, including related tools and equipment.
Responsibilities/Accountabilities
•Program and set up the CNC laser cutting machine.
•Read work orders and tag products as required.
•Read and interpret drawings and/or blueprints.
•Check material thickness for accuracy and load material.
•Select and set up lenses based on material type and thickness.
•Load programs set machine parameters and proper fixtures to ensure optimal performance of the equipment.
•Monitor fill level of chiller system and process gases, and report reordering levels to the supervisor.
•Establish proper stop location, adjust laser beam focal point.
•Manage and maintain files to ensure matching revision levels at all times.
•Perform dimensional inspections.
•Monitor cutting operation.
•Shake-out completed parts from “skeletons”.
•Request aid from the Metal Fabrication Assistant and instruct proper execution of responsibilities.
•Use various inspecting techniques; calipers, micrometers, drop indicators, etc.
•Transport parts that require further processing to respective designated areas.
•Transport completed parts to the shipping area.
•Assess cut pieces for quality and prepare product for delivery.
•Clean up and maintain the immediate work area in a neat and orderly fashion.
•Conduct safety checks on equipment and daily maintenance in compliance with safety standards.
•Complete records as required.
•Detect faulty equipment, improper operations, and unusual conditions and report it to supervisor.
Physical Requirements:
•Must be able to lift 50 lbs. frequently throughout the work day
•Must be able to accommodate changing work shifts
•Must be able to stand and to work with hands for extended periods
•Must have good spatial awareness and hand-eye coordination
