Responsible for the daily setup and operation of one or more laser cutting machines. Will also assist other laser operators with any of their daily duties including area housekeeping, maintenance work and material staging.
· Sets up, maintains, and operates the laser.
· Performs daily machine startup and shutdown procedures as necessary on laser equipment.
· Stages raw materials at workstation for the day’s productions and plans sequence of operations by reviewing blueprints to ensure precision.
· Loads and unloads trucks using a forklift.
· Ensures production schedule follow-through as determined by the CAD Department.
· Assists in loading and unloading team members’ machines when production requires additional manpower to maintain production standards.
· Performs minor maintenance and cleaning of cutting equipment and work area in accordance with the company standards and manufacturers machine recommendations.
· Checks parts to ensure they are meeting the company’s standards before moving to the next department.
· Follows company, state, and federal safety regulations. This includes wearing proper protective equipment and keeping work area clean and well-organized.
· Knowledge of tooling and software to run the laser.
· Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, documents, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
· Work with hands, lifting and moving large pieces of metal, standing for hours at a time.
· Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
· Ability to pay attention to detail and ensure job is done to the highest quality.
· Strong analytical skills to monitor work processes, inspect various types of metal, read and interpret blueprints that contain precise measurements, and to make calculations necessary to cut metal to match specific designs.
· Excellent communication skills to work in a collaborative environment with other team members.
· Strong measuring skills working with multiple measuring tools to make precise measurements using metric and US measuring systems.
· Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
· Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
State motor vehicle operators permit for operation of forklift highly preferred.
Must be able to lift, carry, push and/or pull up to 60 pounds regularly.
Squat/kneel, bend/stoop, crawl/climb, twist/turn, grasp and reach overhead and outward frequently.
Sit, stand, and walk for 1-10 hours per day.
Requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases.
Work in a fast-paced environment wearing hearing protection, vision protection, steel-toed shoes, and other appropriate protective clothing.
