Guides, organizes, and directs the hourly work force in conjunction with superintendents and supervisors. Manages plant operations and collaborates with maintenance to ensure equipment is maintained in satisfactory condition. Controls plant direct production and costs through effective planning and management. Assures training, implementation, and maintenance of quality, health, safety, and environmental programs. Assist the Plant Manager with development and execution of capital and annual budget plans. Performs administrative duties required to meet job goals including planning, budgeting, scheduling and reporting. Responsible for the overall management, direction and coordination of the production processes. Plans, evaluates, recommends, implements and monitors production to minimize costs and meet quality and regulatory needs for the operations. Coordinate interdepartmental needs.
- Provide for continual improvement in production in order to safely meet customer demands while working to reduce costs and increase productivity.
- Work with operators to collect data in a timely manner for trending, problem solving and root cause analysis
- Coordinate with the maintenance department to schedule preventative maintenance as well as reactive maintenance when unscheduled downtime occurs
- Follow and promote all safety regulations and ensures plant adheres to the company EHS and MSHA policies and regulations.
- Manage the production departments, interface with mine personnel, and coordinate with maintenance, purchasing, customer service and accounting.
- Additional duties as assigned
- Bachelor of Science in Geological Sciences or Engineering AND 10 years of progressively responsible experience in maintenance and/or production. OR High school diploma or GED AND 7 years of progressively responsible experience in maintenance. Mining and leadership experience is a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites.
- Proficient in relevant computer software programs
- Engineering in mining background preferred or equivalent background as Operations Superintendent or manager or in a similar field.
- Minimum of 10 year or more years of progressive experience in mine supervisory/management with approximately 5 years’ experience in a management role.
- Demonstrated track record of developing cost-effective solutions with strong evidence of systemic thinking.
- Strong project management skills, including budgeting, planning, monitoring capital expenditures and a strong record of accomplishment and increased scope of responsibility.
- Must possess the physical ability to maneuver throughout the mine and the plant, ability to perform such activities such as climbing, reaching, stooping, kneeling crouching, standing, walking, pushing and pulling and the ability to lift approximately 10-20 lbs.
- Must be able to handle several tasks at one time and work well with a variety of personalities to achieve continuous improvement.
- Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license.
