Welder Fabricator
Summary:
This job posting is for the full-time position of Welder Fabricator with ASAP Metal Fabricators, a sheet-metal manufacturing job shop in Yakima, WA. Pay will be DOE.

We are looking for a welder/fabricator who likes to build new and different parts every day, in a job-shop manufacturing environment. Here are some details:
Typical Responsibilities
•Measure and mark work pieces using straightedges, rules, and calipers
•Cut and smooth metal components using plasma cutters, portable grinders, lathe, and milling machines
•Read and interpret blueprints and production drawings to lay out welding projects
•Operate forklifts/cranes and use them in conveying work materials to welding site
•Collaborate with project managers and welding supervisors to ensure smooth work operations
•Guide and direct the activities of inexperienced/trainee welders
•Maintain safety guidelines and regulations to ensure a risk-free work environment
•Perform welding operations in accordance with set specifications and configuration
•Carry out welding according to set dimensions to meet general test requirements
•Organize and clean welding equipment on a regular basis
•Monitor inventory level of materials to notify supervisor of stock shortage
•Bore holes through metal workpieces using drill press
•Weld materials in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions
•Adjust gas gauges to set the flow rate of shield gas
•Perform welding of metal alloys to specific dimensions, tolerances and layouts
•Use measuring tools such as micrometers and calipers to inspect angles, grooves or gap allowances
•Apply knowledge of metallurgy and geometry in selecting welding equipment and configuration.
•Keep work areas clean and organized, take proper care of all equipment and facilities.
•Follow all company rules and policies
•Provide a great level of attention to detail and focus on the given task
•Follow all safety rules and quality standards
•Work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency
•Maintain communication with lead welder, supervisor, engineer, or project manager to overcome obstacles, time consumption and to produce the best quality efficiently

Preferred Qualifications
•Ability to use MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW, and Pulse Arc machines
•Ability to weld stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminum in various alloys and gauges.
•Ability to identify spool wire type or filler metal type to weld a specific alloy
•Ability to connect cables, gas cylinders and set welding machine to obtain amperage, voltage, pulse, frequency, and wire feed speed as the material dictates or as blueprint welding procedure requires
•Must be able to read blueprints, drawings and diagrams to determine specific welding requirements
•Must be a certified forklift truck operator
•Must have valid driver’s license in good standing
Preferred Experience
•Ability to understand basic mechanical and manufacturing techniques.
•Three years minimum experience or training
•High school diploma or GED required
The business operates on a 40-hour workweek. Overtime is discouraged, but may occasionally be required. Standard hours of operation are:
•Monday-Thursday, 7:00 am - 4:00 pm
•Friday, 7:00 am - 2:00 pm
