Your Next Challenge
Reporting to the Manager, Underground Operations, you will be part of the Mine Operations Department. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
- Lead day-to-day operations for the Underground Mine, lead by example and build a safe, and strong employee culture;
- Plan, direct and coordinate the activities of underground mining operations employees in a safe, environmentally sound and efficient manner, either personally or through subordinate supervisors;
- Set priorities, plan and direct underground mining activities by leveraging best available technologies and practices to ensure effective and efficient mining operations and costs;
- Review and analyze production to determine the sources of variance between production specifications and goals;
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with all appropriate parties, develop and implement methods and procedures to eliminate operational problems, improve efficiency as well as ore quality;
- Communicate and coordinate with the Maintenance, Procurement Engineering, Geology, and Health and Safety teams to ensure adequate resourcing (equipment & staffing) and procedures to achieve and improve productivity targets;
- Manage the performance and development of direct reports;
- Ensure compliance with Agnico Eagle Mining Polices and Procedures;
- Coach and mentor subordinates in regard to employee relations, safety, environmental, productivity and cost issues;
- Inform and receive information from departments, lead by example, motivate and guide supervisors and crews, and maintain good employee relations;
- Coordinate daily mining activities, ensure productivity levels, provide technical support, and participate to the mine design;
- Develop yearly departmental objectives and strategy aligned with corporation and division goals;
- Regularly monitor costs, productivity, safety and employee motivation;
- Interact and collaborate with all applicable departments to establish, monitor and achieve production targets, quality standards and optimization projects.
- 10 years of experience in leading underground mining operations;
- Commitment to safety and sustainability practices in mining;
- Sounds knowledge of relevant regulations and standards governing mining operations in Ontario/Canada;
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
- Schedule: 4/3 (Monday to Thursday) schedule at our Detour Lake Mine;
- Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides transportation to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
