As part of the Metallurgical Laboratory Team, the Metallurgist is responsible for optimizing processes to enhance mill metallurgical performance leading to improved metal recovery and concentrate grades, quality control and compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Laboratory and plant simulation testing is an integral part of this job.
- Conduct flotation tests on ore samples to optimize metallurgical response
- Coordinate with Mill Operations for slurry sampling under plant conditions
- Prepare and submit reports on laboratory test results
- Sample mill streams for calibration and maintenance of on-stream analyzers
- Work with engineers and geologists to optimize mining and processing plans for recovery and environmental performance
- Monitor and control metallurgical processes for efficiency, quality, and cost
- Analyze production data and adjust processes to meet output and quality standards
- Perform metallurgical tests to develop new methods, improve processes, and troubleshoot issues
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address challenges and improve efficiency
- Manage lab activities, including sample prep, testing, data analysis, and equipment upkeep
- Provide technical support to plant operations and implement corrective actions
- Maintain accurate records of test results, experiments, and process parameters
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards
- Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field
- 3+ years’ experience in mining or metallurgical operations- Strong knowledge of metals, minerals, and mineral processing
- Experience with lab testing, data analysis, and metallurgical software
- Proven problem-solving skills for complex metallurgical challenges
- Effective communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
- Attention to detail and strong data management abilities
- Experience with software for data analysis, simulation, and process modeling (an asset)
We offer a competitive starting salary range of $90,000 - $105,000/year based on experience and qualifications. Annual discretionary short term incentive award at a percentage of base salary, rewarding exceptional contributions to team and company success.
