Role Overview
The role is to provide leadership, guildance and expertise in several major areas, including Metallurgical Control, Risk Assessment/Prevention and Troubleshooting of the process (in close cooperation with Operations), organic and reformative improvement of the process (proposing, test and implementations of new improvements ranging from new reagents and process regimes to new types of equipment or equipment modifications), metal balance, EITs training and education, providing expertise and leadership in cooperative interdepartmental projects (incl Environment, Mine, Geology etc).
Core Responsibilities
- Ensuring compliance with Ministry of Mines and WCB Safety Standards.
- Identify, plan, and execute process improvement projects focused on improving mill throughput, metal recovery and concentrate grade.
- Act as a process resource for technical services engineering personnel.
- Assist in the development and deployment of advanced analytics for mill processes.
- Provide technical expertise to process control personnel in the implementation of advanced process control, in coordination with mill operations and metallurgy.
- Implement advanced instrumentation projects in the mill.
- Provide leadership and expertise in preparation of month end metal balance reports
- Act as the technical services representative for mine to mill coordination activities.
- Provide metallurgical support to mill department on selected projects.
- Act as a role model and support the growth and professional development of EITs.
- A degree in Metallurgical, Mineral Processing, Chemical or a related Engineering field.
- Professional Engineer Designation (P.Eng) registered with or eligible to transfer to EGBC.
- At least 10 years of experience in process engineering in a variety of roles (operations, design, consulting etc.)
- Minimum of 5 years site experience with mineral processing operations.
- Experience leading and developing diverse project teams.
- Familiarity with Microsoft office suite of software, custom analytical equipment software.
- Advanced analytical, problem solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and relationship management skills.
- Experience with identification, planning and execution of process improvement projects.
- Preferred: experience with advanced process modelling software (i.e. JKSimMet would be an asset)
- Preferred: Experience with Emerson DeltaV DCS and dataPARC process data management systems would be an asset.
- Preferred: Possess and maintain a valid Canadian Driver’s License.
- Williams Lake has a population of approximately 12,000 but services nearly 25,000 as it is a central hub for many outlying smaller communities
