About the Organization

Lake Shore Gold, a subsidiary of Pan American Silver, is located in Timmins, Ontario. The Bell Creek Complex located approximately 20 kilometers northeast of Timmins, Ontario, consists of an underground mine and processing facility. Mineralization is associated with the Porcupine-Destor fault system within the Abitibi greenstone belt, with ore mined by narrow vein longhole stoping methods. Ore is then transported to surface via a modern one thousand eighty metre deep shaft capable of forty-eight hundred tonnes per day.

The Timmins West mine is located approximately 18 kilometers west of Timmins, Ontario, one of the world’s most prolific gold camps. Mineralization is associated with the Porcupine-Destor fault system within the Abitibi greenstone belt. The Timmins West mine is comprised of the Timmins deposit, the Thunder Creek deposit, and the 144 Gap deposit. All three deposits are interconnected by underground drifts.

About the Opportunity

We are looking to hire a Mill Metallurgist to join our Bell Creek Mill team in Porcupine, ON., on a full-time basis. The schedule for this position is Monday-Friday, 8 hrs/day.

Please note that this role requires relocation to the Timmins area and is not a camp-based position.

In this position, you will provide technical support and information to Mill Supervisors and Operators. You will be responsible for independently carrying out a wide range of complex engineering tasks related to process control, optimization, improvement projects, quality assurance, and laboratory experience.

Other duties for this role include:

- Responsible for managing mill reagents, including ordering and short-term and annual reagent budgets and month-end reagent counts and reporting.

- Complete daily and month-end metallurgical accounting.

- Precise and reproducible sampling at month end to determine mill gold inventories.

- Oversee fine carbon sampling, preparation, shipping, and accounting.

- Mill sampling for the purpose of determining ore moisture content, plant circuit surveys, grind analysis, etc.

- Perform lab experiments, including but not limited to size analysis, leach tests, carbon activity, and ETP tests.

- Identify and implement plant improvement opportunities; lead small-to-medium scale projects through to completion.

- Assist the Met group, Maintenance, General Foreman, and First Line Supervisors with respect to metallurgical performance in accordance with company objectives and procedures.

- Responsible for the training of summer students and the operation and seasonal commissioning/decommissioning of the effluent treatment plant.

- Assist in the development of Mill SOP’s.

- Become proficient in the Mill Refiner duties.

More About You

The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:

- Diploma or degree in metallurgy, mineral processing, or chemical engineering

- Minimum of three to five years’ experience, preferably in a gold milling environment

- Practice good housekeeping

- Applicants must be eligible to work in Canada
