JOB SUMMARY: This role is responsible for straightening shafts, flat stock, and plate stock, as well as polishing welds and weldments to remove mill marks and achieve a clean, finished appearance. The technician will also perform tapping and countersinking of holes as part of the finishing process.
- Straighten metal parts including shafts, flat stock, and plate stock using appropriate tools and methods.
- Polish welds, weldments, and surfaces to remove mill marks and prepare parts for finishing or delivery.
- Perform tapping and countersinking of holes per engineering specs or shop instructions.
- Inspect finished parts for straightness, finish quality, and proper hole geometry.
- Operate hand tools, grinders, polishers, presses, and other shop equipment safely and efficiently.
- Maintain clean and organized work area.
- Collaborate with welders, machinists, and supervisors to ensure quality standards are met.
- Previous experience in a machine shop or metal fabrication environment preferred.
- Familiarity with metal straightening and polishing techniques.
- Ability to read basic blueprints or shop drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.
- Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Shift: First Shift, Monday–Friday
- Hours: 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM or 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
- Breaks: Includes one 10-minute paid break and a 15-minute paid lunch per shift
