- The welding technician is responsible for troubleshooting issues with robotic welding cells and processes, fix the issues, and suggest, develop, or implement permanent corrective actions to prevent future issues.
- Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshooting on all manufacturing equipment.
- Complete repairs, modifications and installations as required.
- Service, maintain, repair, install and test new or existing equipment and verify conformance to specifications.
- Provide plant support in troubleshooting of process problems including root cause.
- Completes quality improvement initiatives as required to maintain standards of quality.
- Monitor weld quality and implement corrective actions when needed.
- Optimize welding processes to enhance efficiency and productivity.
- Read and interpret CAD data, blueprints, GD T, CMM reports, customer weld specifications.
- Robot and PLC programming to support troubleshooting and equipment improvements or upgrades.
- Provide on-call support for all manufacturing processes in order to meet customer demands, when necessary.
- Responsible for continuous improvement activities/projects to increase throughput and reduce cost.
- Participate in root cause analysis and problem solving related to quality or throughput issues and implement solutions to meet or exceed objectives.
- Foster good working relationships and demonstrate effective communication skills with vendors, team members, suppliers and project teams.
- Ensure compliance of practices, procedures, and instructions relative to applicable corporate standards (ISO, TS, etc).
- Ability to understand, record, and communicate system problems and solutions.
- Responsible for safety in process design and in execution of daily activities.
- Capable of independent decision making.
- Ensure timely execution of planned activities.
- Proven ability to report work status concisely to leadership.
- At least 3-year of hands-on experience with programming, operation, and troubleshooting of robotics (Fanuc preferred).
- At least five years experience in a welding manufacturing environment, automotive experience preferred.
- At least continuing education coursework in quality and/or quality systems, and/or supervision.
- Familiar with weld verification methods, weld testing methodology, and measuring devices. GMAW and RSW experience required.
- This person should feel comfortable with all aspects of setup, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of automated robotic welding, fastening, and assembly systems.
- Fanuc certified training preferred.
- Certified hand welding preferred.
