We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Press Operator to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of mechanical press operations, equipment maintenance, and safety protocols. Press operator will be responsible for the precise setup, operations, and monitoring of the mechanical presses to form aerospace components in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions, and industry standards. As a Mechanical Press Operator, you will play a crucial role in producing high-quality components and ensuring the efficient operation of mechanical press machinery.
- Set up and operate mechanical presses per job travelers, blueprints, and specifications
- Install and align dies, adjust press settings, and perform first-article inspections to ensure conformity before running production.
- Load and unload raw materials onto the press bed, ensuring proper alignment and positioning.
- Monitor machine operations, including speed, pressure, and material feed, to ensure consistent quality and compliance with established standards.
- Make necessary adjustments to the press settings to optimize production efficiency and product quality.
- Inspect finished parts for defects, dimensional accuracy, and overall quality. Make minor adjustments or perform additional operations as needed.
- Troubleshoot and address any issues that may arise during production, such as jams, misfeeds, or machine malfunctions.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on the mechanical press, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn or damaged parts.
- Collaborate with other team members, such as quality control inspectors and maintenance technicians, to maintain a smooth production flow.
- Adhere to strict safety protocols and guidelines while operating the mechanical press, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in mechanical operations is a plus.
- 5+ years of experience as a Mechanical Press Operator or similar role in a manufacturing environment.- Solid understanding of mechanical press operations, tooling setups, and adjustments.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and production instructions.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with a keen attention to detail and precision.
- Familiarity with various types of mechanical presses, controls, and safety procedures.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical issues and making minor repairs.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
- Ability to read and interpret aerospace blueprints, specifications, and work travelers
- Knowledge of AS9100 | ISO 9001 requirements and documentation practices.
- Familiarity with SPC first article inspection ( FAI ) and basic GD&T concepts.
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and ability to hold tight tolerances
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy materials and parts (up to 50 pounds)
- Good visual acuity for detailed inspections and measurements
- Stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
