Full job description

Tie Down Engineering manufactures products for industrial safety, marine, agricultural, mobile home, and contract manufacturing markets. The Design and Manufacturing engineering team helps rapidly bring products from concept to customer deliverable.

Job Duties:

•

Key strategic member of the engineering team. Provides technical leadership in the team, helps with project planning and strategic departmental initiatives.

•

Support sales/manufacturing with expert level design to bring new products to market, and support existing product, as quickly as possible, within agreed timelines

•

Design components and assemblies using 3D modeling in Solidworks. These are primarily produced from structural sheet/tube/plate. These will be assembled using primarily conventional means (laser/plasma cutting, bending, machining, welding, assembly)

•

Support the design of fixtures and tooling for production

•

Create professional product documentation needed to manufacture or procure designed components and assemblies. This includes component drawings and detailed assembly drawings.

Skills & Abilities:

•

Expert level design of sheet metal, weldments, and plate structures.

•

Hands-on experience in shop/lab work

•

Excellent communication skills

•

Some background working in smaller and fast paced companies

•

Solid experience working with clients and suppliers

•

Ability to take on leadership and responsibility in a development environment

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

•

BS or better in Mechanical Engineering

•

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in engineering design capacity in work environment

•

Minimum 5 years of SolidWorks mechanical design experience

•

Broad based M.E. Design experience in Heavy industrial/fabricated products

Preferred Qualities:

•

Metal fabrication experience (sheet/plate/forming/machining/welding)

•

Tooling and fixture design

•

Mechanical design experience

Experience working through concept to production product development cycles
