Job Summary
We are seeking a Mechanical Designer/Engineer with a passion for practical problem-solving, precision, custom equipment design and continuous improvement. This role is ideal for someone who wants to be directly involved in turning great ideas into real machines.
Key Responsibilities
•Design and Drafting: Create detailed 3D models, mechanical drawings, and complex assemblies using SolidWorks for our custom bridge access machines.
•Product Development: Innovate and iterate on mechanical systems using kinematics, hydraulics, and sheet metal design to improve performance, safety, and reliability.
•Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, consultants, fabricators, and field technicians to bring concepts from sketch to reality.
•Documentation: Manage and revise design files using SolidWorks PDM, and generate clear, accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and other supporting documentation.
•Troubleshooting Field Support: Interpret customer and field team feedback to guide improvements, resolve issues, and ensure products perform effectively in real-world applications.
•Project Support: Contribute to project planning and execution, helping the team meet safety, quality, and delivery goals in a dynamic environment.
Required Qualifications – We’re looking for someone with a solid engineering foundation and a passion for solving problems through mechanical design. If the following describe you, you’ll thrive in this role:
•A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related technical field.
•At least 3 years of full-time equivalent engineering experience, with an emphasis on hands-on, professional-level contributions and a solid foundation in mechanical systems.
•2 or more years of hands-on mechanical design experience.
•Proficiency in SolidWorks with practical, professional project experience, including assemblies, drawings, 3D modeling, and sheet metal design.
•A proven ability to troubleshoot technical problems and bring solutions to life.
•Experience in design for manufacturing (DFM) principles and environments.
•Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to thrive in a team setting.
•Confidence juggling multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.
