Wärtsilä’s Energy Business looking for a highly motivated and agile Mechanical Designer to join the rapidly growing Energy Storage & Optimization division of Wärtsilä Corp. The mechanical designer will be responsible for creating CAD models and drawing specifications for new battery energy storage systems- ultimately to enable the effective utilization of renewable energy for Wartsila’s domestic and international customers. Additionally, the Design engineer will be expected to work with various team member from different disciplines to create and maintain sheet metal parts, bills of materials, manage Engineering Change Notices (ECO), update and release drawing specifications to ensure timely delivery of new designs and support existing manufacturing. This position requires flexibility to work on multiple projects in various stages of the design, validation, and the manufacturing product life cycle.
The preferred location for this position is Toronto, Canada (scarborough) and selected candidate will be required to work onsite. Our ideal candidate will have an Bachelor's in mechanical design and 5+ years of experience working in product development, or a Bachelor's degree with 3+ years’ experience.
As a Mechanical Designer you will: Produce detailed solid 3D models and 2D drawings of components and complex assemblies in PTC Creo (Pro-E) or Autodesk Inventor; Update existing designs; Design new concepts; Present CAD designs for review; and change on the design from other team members utilizing Asana work management platform.
As Design Engineer you will have these responsibilities:
• Bring expertise and mentor other team members with these responsibilities by establishing best practices and procedures. • Help manage Engineering Change Notices (ECNs)- Changes and tracking.
