The Mechanic 1 position at Flying A Pumping Services is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of the company’s fleet of oilfield service equipment and vehicles. This entry-level position requires knowledge of mechanical systems, tools, and diagnostic equipment, with a focus on ensuring operational efficiency and minimizing equipment downtime.
- Performs routine maintenance tasks on trucks, trailers, pumps, and other service equipment (e.g., fluid changes, tire rotations, brake adjustments).
- Assists in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical issues related to engines, transmissions, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
- Conducts inspections of equipment and vehicles to identify wear, damage, or potential failure points.
- Documents all maintenance and repairs in compliance with company policies and safety regulations.
- Collaborates with senior mechanics and supervisors to carry out complex repair projects.
- Assists in maintaining a clean and organized shop environment, ensuring tools and equipment are in proper working order.
- Reports any safety concerns or equipment malfunctions to supervisors immediately.
- Follows all company safety procedures and standards to ensure a safe working environment.
- Must be local to the Cisco, TX area.
- Basic knowledge of mechanical systems, including engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
- Experience in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to read and understand technical manuals and schematics.
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in mechanics is a plus.
- Basic problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, kneeling, sitting stand, walk, kneel, stoop, squat, pull, push, climb, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and see and standing (occasionally) for long periods of time.
- The essential duties of this position require moderate to heavy lifting and carrying.
- Must be able to position oneself to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, attics, and tunnels and demonstrate manual dexterity and be able to use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Exposure to moderate noise levels, vibrations, and bright lights; and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases; and all climate types including hot and cold temperatures, humidity, rain, snow, etc.
- Able to wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection and hard hats when needed.
- React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet.
- Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
- Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
- Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
- Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
