Position Summary
The
Materials Leadis responsible for the day-to-day operations of the bulk plant and chemical warehouse. This role oversees the blending and loading of cement, chemicals (cement or bulk), and acid used in Pumping Services jobs. The Materials Lead supervises the Bulk Plant Operators and ensures all materials handling activities are performed safely, accurately, and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and participate in daily bulk plant operations, ensuring safety, accuracy, and timeliness.
- Provide daily direction and oversight to Bulk Plant Operators.
- Review job proposals or call sheets to determine material volumes and blending requirements.
- Calculate, measure, and blend cement, chemicals, and acid in accordance with job specifications.
- Monitor pneumatic tank pressures and control valves to ensure accurate blending and transfer.
- Supervise and assist in loading blended materials onto bulk and acid transport trucks; retain samples for backup or testing.
- Load/unload materials from suppliers using forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Perform basic repairs and preventative maintenance on bulk plant equipment (e.g., blowers, forklifts).
- Drive bulk or acid transport trucks to support loading operations, as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support operational and organizational goals.
- High School Diploma or GED - 3+ years of experience in bulk plant or operations - 1+ year of supervisory experience
- Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
- Proven leadership and teamwork abilities.
- Strong math skills—capable of calculating volumes, ratios, and percentages.
- Sound problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Familiarity with MSDS, PPE, TDG, and Emergency Response Plans.
- Knowledge of hydrogen sulfide protocols and firefighting procedures is beneficial.
- Support inventory tracking of cement, chemicals, and acid supplies.
- Complete and maintain accurate documentation (e.g., shipping papers, inventory logs, load tickets).
- Promote and adhere to Safety Standards in all work environments—shop, yard, and field.
- Promptly report all incidents, hazards, or injuries to the supervisor.
- Attend weekly safety meetings.
- Understand and implement operational and technical standards for all assigned tasks.
- Exercise Stop Work Authority when unsafe conditions or improved solutions are identified.
- Exposure to moving machinery, outdoor weather, diesel fumes, chemicals, and moderate to loud noise
- Must be able to lift up to 65 lbs
- Frequent walking, standing, bending, reaching; occasional climbing, kneeling, or crawling
- Requires use of respirators, safety gear, and visual precision for various tasks
- Must be able to clearly communicate in team meetings and field settings
