We are currently seeking:
Marine Superintendent- Houston (USA)
In order to support our vision to be Best on Water with cleaner energy, BW LPG is looking for a highly motivatedMarine Superintendent to join our team in Houston. As a Marine Superintendent based in the US, you will be required to support BW LPG vessels with day-to-day marine operations, ship visits either in port or onboard sailing visits between the US – Panama and vice-versa will be required. The visits would include vessel inspections, audits, training the vessels crew and could include incident investigation. A key function would be to maintain good relationships with authorities and partners in the region. Additionally, you will participate in quality management and continuous improvement processes, ensuring alignment with the BW's safety and environmental policies.
Responsibilities:
•Forge, strengthen and maintain good relationships with Authorities, Partners and Customers in the US region.
•Support BW LPG FM AS vessels as assigned, and visit the BW LPG FM AS vessel calling US, as directed by the HOD to assist vessels during port calls, USCG inspections and other 3rd party inspections/audits.
•Carry out Marine and Vetting functions in close cooperation with Marine, Technical and Operations teams in Oslo and Singapore.
•Be the focal point of contact for Superintendents and Operators on USCG defect reporting and concerns prior to the US call.
•Perform internal ISM, ISPS, MLC, Cargo, Mooring and Navigational audits in port, at the anchorage and while sailing.
•Participate in and take a lead as necessary in development of onboard training programs and perform training sessions onboard.
•Support in incident investigations to BW vessels primarily in US/Americas.
•Actively participate in the development of the quality management system and engage in the process for continuous improvement of policies, processes and procedures.
•Be the main resource for ensuring our SMS policies/procedures are in compliance with the latest US local/CFR requirements and coordinate with the HSEQ team in keeping them updated.
•Assist the technical team in coordinating with local US based agents/suppliers/service companies in order to improve efficiencies.
•Handle risk assessments/work permits and other support requests from vessels during US daytime.
•Handle screening request from customers for the vessels and assist the Oslo/Singapore team in clearing vessels during US daytime.
•Handle the Marine duty phone when assigned.
•Assist in maintaining validity of standards in line with Qualship and E-Zero.
•Complete all responsibilities mentioned above in accordance with the company's prevailing Health, Safety and Environment policy as described in the management system.
Qualifications:
•Education within Maritime Industry or similar.
•Minimum 5 year experience from maritime related industry.
•2 years sailing experience as a Senior Deck Officer (Master or Chief Officer) on gas tankers.
•Technical skills related to gas carrier operations.
•Be familiar with applicable rules, regulations and industry requirements.
•Solid report-writing skills.
•Fluent in English communication, orally and in writing.
•Permit to work in the US.
