LPA Marine is a growing company looking for a skilled and motivated Fleet Mechanic to help maintain and improve our well-maintained, pre-emissions fleet. If you’re tired of working on overcomplicated emissions systems and want a more straightforward, hands-on repair experience, this is the job for you!
You’ll work independently much of the time, making repairs on-site with our fully equipped service truck, while also collaborating on larger projects when needed. To top it off, you’ll get to work in one of the most scenic locations in Maine, with an incredible view of the Portland city skyline and Casco Bay.
This position is responsible for the maintenance, repairs, fabrication, and general troubleshooting of our fleet, including diesel-powered barges, dump trucks, excavators, and support equipment. The job involves a mix of shop and fieldwork, with opportunities to customize and enhance our equipment to withstand the rugged island environments where we operate.
In addition to standard repairs and maintenance, this role includes fabricating and upfitting truck equipment, as well as modifying our gear to handle the unique challenges of working in coastal conditions. From modifying truck bodies to reinforcing equipment for heavy-duty island operations, you’ll ensure our customized fleet is ready for any challenge.
Strong electrical skills are also important. You’ll need to diagnose and repair wiring issues, install lighting and systems, and ensure our fleet functions reliably in tough conditions. Our team will be counting on you!
Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to take on other roles within the company when demand requires it, keeping your work diverse and engaging.
While our shop is simple, you’ll have the freedom to set it up and organize it in a way that works best for you.
