The Operational Heath & Safety Superintendent supports the Health, Safety and Risk Manager in developing and implementing management systems for health, safety, and risk. The Superintendent will collaborate within the department and with different departments to ensure that standards, procedures, tools, and technology facilitate efficient management of health, safety, and risk. The role will be responsible for collaborative efforts to managing the systems and administration of the HS&R function looking for opportunities to streamline work activities and create line-led accountability.
Key Responsibilities
•Embrace the role of a fearless safety leader, upholding and championing Teck's dedication to health, safety, environmental, and community (HSEC) preservation as a fundamental principle.
•Work closely with collaborators from site, corporate, and other key partners to develop standards, procedures, and tool designs for the operation.
•Facilitate risk profiles inclusive of residual risk, control assignment, control implementation, ongoing control assessment, and efficiency review, work assessment for applicable controls, and management of change.
•Implement and manage risk management tools that incorporate business and operational risk registers down to field level processes inclusive of accountabilities.
•Develop, communicate, and deliver training to site personnel and key collaborators on newly developed process and procedures.
•Develop and implement a consistent and detailed approach to managing risk, change, and improving health and safety standards.
•Coordinate standards, procedures, and tools at a site level, developing administrative reporting processes, metrics, and analytics.
•Advance the development and formalization of the Health and Safety Management System.
•Coordinate Emergency Management and Response as well as occupational health and hygiene programs.
Qualifications
•University Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Science or Environmental Discipline, or a multi-year technical diploma in the field of Occupational Health and Safety. Experience will be considered as a replacement.
•A minimum of 8 years of experience in management systems/HSEC roles with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.

Salary Range: $135,000 - $167,000
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
