This position is based in Madison Heights Coating center, reporting directly to the Plant Manager.
Ionbond provides advanced coating solutions for applications in the aerospace, medical, food contact, automotive, decorative, tooling and fuel cells industries. We offer a broad range of hard, low-friction, wear-resistant coatings based on PVD, PACVD and CVD technologies.
With 34 job coating centers in 15 countries in Europe, North America and Asia, Ionbond has one of the largest coating networks in the world. Ionbond is part of renowned Japanese industrial consortium IHI Group.
- Lead and administer the Quality Assurance function by effectively handling documents and record controls for the coating center.
- Establish and maintain quality standards and metrics for new processes with Engineering and Operations, define methods & standards to improve product quality and productivity
- Initiate improvement events (projects, 5S & Kaizen to deliver improved operational performance through waste elimination and variation reduction.
- Work with local team to improve Health, Safety, and Environmental standards in the plant by identifying and solving potential hazards and risks.
- Work closely with customer service, operations, and engineering to evaluate and monitor the non-conforming product process.
- Ensure that corrective and preventive actions concerning production quality are performed and monitored by leading and overseeing the quality department.
- Perform quality system training throughout the center and collect, document, resolve and maintain all information related to customer complaints.

The preferred candidate will hold a bachelor’s degree in quality management, engineering or have relevant work experience. Minimum of five years of quality management, engineering, or college-level experience. Have a strong background in ISO 9001 Quality systems to ensure compliance. Experience in implementing and maintaining IATF 16949:2016. Qualified internal auditor with a minimum of three years in auditing. Advanced knowledge of Excel and possess strong organizational and verbal skills. Experience in thin film coatings is preferred but not required. Strong ability to work from blueprints, inspection specifications, and written/verbal instructions. Strong ability to develop work instructions and other quality documents. 6S Greenbelt is highly preferred. Must be willing to travel through the US occasionally (10% or less) Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
