POSITION SUMMARY

The Manager, Social Performance will play a critical role in advising and leading efforts related to the company’s social performance strategy across its operations in Greece, Turkey, and Canada. This individual will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the company meets the requirements for maintaining and enhancing its social license to operate, particularly in the areas of community development, human rights and permitting activities, like environmental and social impact assessments (ESIA).

Based at the company’s headquarters in Vancouver, BC, this position will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies that manage the social performance of the company’s operations, ensuring that all activities align with the company’s values, local community expectations, and regulatory frameworks. This role will also involve translating complex technical permitting requirements into clear, accessible language for diverse stakeholders, fostering engagement, and helping to navigate permitting and regulatory processes. Additionally, the Manager will collaborate with sustainability and community engagement teams to ensure that permitting strategies support the company’s commitment to responsible, sustainable mining practices. The role requires an in-depth understanding of environmental permitting, regulatory compliance, and community relations within the mining sector.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Manager, Social Performance and Permitting will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:


Social Performance Strategy Development

Develop and implement comprehensive social performance strategies to support the company’s operations, focusing on community development, human rights, and community investment in Greece, Turkiye, and Canada.

Advise senior leadership on human rights issues, ensuring that operations comply with international human rights standards and expectations.

Oversee the design and implementation of community investment initiatives, ensuring they contribute to local economic development and create positive, lasting impacts in the regions where the company operates.
Monitor the impact of community development and human rights programs, adjusting strategies as needed to maximize positive outcomes and mitigate potential social risks.

Permitting and Environmental and Social Impact Assessment Advisory (ESIA)

Provide expert advice and guidance on environmental and social impact assessments (ESIA), ensuring compliance with local, national, and international regulations and standards.
Support permitting processes by advising on social considerations, community engagement strategies, and the management of social risks associated with permitting and licensing.
Working in collaboration with Manager, Environment support the identification and management of risks related to permitting, including environmental and social risks, and develop mitigation strategies in consultation with Technical, Sustainability and regional teams.
Assist in navigating permitting and regulatory frameworks to ensure timely and effective approval for new and existing projects, with a focus on maintaining and enhancing the company’s social license to operate.


Social Management System Maintenance

In collaboration with Manager, Sustainability Reporting and Assurance, advise on updates needed for the Company’s sustainability management system to ensure that it aligns with international mining standards, best practices, and sustainability goals.
Participate in site-level audits and investigations to assess social performance, identify gaps, and implement corrective actions to ensure compliance with the company’s policies and industry standards.
Advise on policy changes to improve social management practices, ensuring alignment with international frameworks such as the IFC Performance Standards, UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, and the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises.
Support the integration of sustainability reporting frameworks, ensuring that the company’s social performance and community engagement activities are effectively documented and communicated to stakeholders.
Provide guidance on best practices for reporting on social performance metrics, including community development outcomes, human rights compliance, and stakeholder engagement efforts.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences or a related field.

7+ years of experience in social performance, project permitting and/or impact assessment, or related roles within the mining or natural resource sectors, with at least 4 years in a leadership or project management capacity.
Knowledge of social performance strategies, particularly in mining contexts, and the ability to ensure these considerations are incorporated into technical permitting processes.
Solid understanding of the intersection between technical operations and permitting requirements (environmental and operational) and sustainability considerations (stakeholder engagement, community development).
Familiarity or experience with mining performance standards and regulations, such as TSM, RGMPs, Copper Mark, ICMM, CSDDD, CSRD, IFC, EBRD preferred.
Experience in working across multiple jurisdictions, particularly in Canada and/or Europe, with a strong understanding of mining environmental and social permitting processes and regulatory frameworks.
Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and influence decision-making across different functions.
International travel up to 25% may be required.

The salary range for this position is $148,500 to $181,500.

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies, taking into consideration internal equity. Qualified candidates with the required qualifications and relevant experience can expect an offer between the minimum and around the midpoint of the range. Progression toward the higher end of the range is based on higher qualifications and experience, or demonstrated performance in the role.
