Key Areas of Responsibility
•Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive regulatory compliance in alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
•Manage and oversee a team of compliance professionals, providing leadership, guidance, and mentorship to ensure the effective execution of compliance initiatives and projects.
•Monitor and analyze changes in environmental regulations at the local, state, and federal levels, assessing their impact on the organization and developing strategies to maintain compliance.
•Develop and maintain strong relationships with regulatory agencies, industry associations, and other stakeholders to stay informed about regulatory developments and influence policy decisions.
•Lead the development and implementation of compliance training programs for employees to meet regulatory requirements, promote awareness of regulatory and permit obligations, and foster a culture of compliance.
•Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal, operations, project delivery, business development, and health and safety, to integrate compliance requirements into business processes and operational practices.
•Conduct regular compliance audits and assessments to identify areas of non-compliance and implement corrective actions to address deficiencies.
•Prepare and submit regulatory reports and documentation to regulatory agencies as required, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of submissions.
•Evaluate permitting actions needed and support the development and submittal of permit applications.
•Stay abreast of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in environmental compliance, incorporating innovative approaches into compliance strategies and initiatives.
•Actively ensure own health and safety and the health and safety of others through understanding and implementing workplace health and safety obligations.
•Support and comply with Company policies and procedures as advised and documented in the Company’s employment policies as amended from time to time and as directed by Managers/Supervisors.
•In addition to the duties set out above, the Manager of Environmental Compliance may be expected to perform other duties as assigned from time to time by the Company
Qualifications and Experience
•Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related field. Advanced degree (e.g., Master's) is preferred.
•10+ years of progressive experience in environmental compliance, or regulatory affairs, preferably in a leadership role.
•Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, including but not limited to air quality, water quality, hazardous waste, and environmental permitting.
•Proven track record of developing and implementing compliance programs and strategies in a regulated environment.
•Experience managing direct reports and leading cross-functional teams in a collaborative and dynamic work environment.
•Ability to influence actions and priorities of other areas of the organization to establish compliance as a core priority and improve compliance outcomes.
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
•Strong leadership and decision-making skills, with a strategic mindset and the ability to drive change and influence stakeholders.
•Professional certifications such as Certified Environmental Professional (CEP) or Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) are a plus.
