Job Description


Position Overview

As a Manager, Electrical Engineering, you will be responsible for managing junior engineers in the electrical engineering group, with a focus on renewable generation. You will be primarily responsible for managing other engineers who lead conceptual project designs and the selected engineering firms in order to complete final detailed designs for projects to be built. The electrical engineering group will cover both renewable generation collection system and associated HV substation engineering.

You will lead a hardworking team of electrical engineers that share a passion for renewable energy and contributing to the design of the technologies behind creating a sustainable world.


Responsibilities:


Electrical Engineering Management Responsibilities

- Manage up to 2 or 3 junior engineers – provide guidance on issues faced during engineering design, construction and placed in service of projects

- Conduct regular meetings with the assigned team, supervise their projects, and perform performance reviews for team members.

- Responsible for achieving the assigned goals for the team and department.

- Support the Electrical Engineering Director and upper management with strategic planning, resource planning and defining goals for the electrical team.

- Develop standard designs, processes and procedures within Electrical Engineering.

- Implement industry best practices and project lessons within the Electrical Engineering team.

- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry technology.


Electrical Engineering and Project Technical Responsibility

- Assist in the development of new projects by analyzing conceptual designs and RFQ specifications.

- Review conceptual project designs that comply with all critical owner and interconnection requirements

- Conduct thorough design reviews of electrical deliverables (drawings, technical specifications and studies): DC and AC collection system for wind, solar, energy storage and HV substation

- Define the scope of all required electrical system studies and review results for accuracy and compliance

- Track design schedules, update all stakeholders, and ensure that critical deadlines are met

- Provide procurement technical support, including preparation of specifications, vendor evaluations, support for technical RFPs, review of technical offers and shop drawings, and participation in factory visits and FAT inspections.

- Coordinate with operations engineering when reviewing designs.


Construction Support

- Monitor construction progress both remotely and via on-site inspections and support resolution of any field issues.

- Attend on-site meetings with electrical construction contractors and in person coordination meetings with interconnection utilities.


Minimum Qualifications

- BS in Electrical Engineering or related degree.

- Knowledge of power systems, ideally acquired through specific coursework, job experience, and internships.

- 6+ years of relevant work experience.

- Experience managing a diverse team.

- Experience with HV/MV electrical infrastructure (substations/switchyards, distribution systems, transmission lines, transformers.) and construction of such infrastructure

- Ability to concurrently coordinate and manage multiple projects with various teams.

- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Visio.

- Strong verbal and written communications skills.

- Some travel required (up to 15%).

- Valid Driver's license.

- Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.


Preferred Qualifications:

- Master’s Degree or Professional Engineering license.

- Experience managing and building multi-disciplined engineering teams.

- Experience with HV/MV electrical equipment for use in the Renewable Energy field.

- Practical experience in construction of HV electrical systems and associated Renewable Energy construction.


Base Pay

130,000.00 - 160,000.00 USD Annual

Bonus: 25% - 40%

The base pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position. Invenergy considers a number of factors when determining base pay offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education and skills.
