Role Overview
The Manager, GX Customer Solutions Group (Engineering / PJ Execution Focus) will contribute to establishing Mitsubishi Power as a leading solutions and technology integrator in the rapidly evolving energy transition market across the Americas (North, Central, and South America). This position requires a highly motivated professional with a strong engineering and project execution background, capable of supporting early-stage project definition through technical analysis, contributing to the development of robust execution strategies, integrating Mitsubishi Power's diverse products and capabilities into comprehensive GX solutions from both an engineering and execution perspective, and ensuring technical and implementation feasibility. The incumbent will play a key role in translating Mitsubishi Power's strategic vision into tangible project opportunities, collaborating with customers and partners to accelerate business growth, and supporting the 'One MHI' approach for decarbonized infrastructure by fostering robust collaboration across all Mitsubishi Power entities.
Key Responsibilities
•Demonstrates Mitsubishi Power's core competencies: Action oriented, change champion, customer-focused, developing self & others, and ownership.
•Collaborate closely with Mitsubishi Power core business leaders and teams, as well as other business units (SBUs), R&D, and global entities, to develop and advance integrated GX solutions tailored to specific customer needs across the Americas, with a strong emphasis on technical viability and execution strategy.
•Provide a customer-centric approach by contributing to the technical and execution aspects that ensure project teams adhere to contract requirements and responsibilities.
•Contribute to the technical and execution aspects of business development for large Mitsubishi Power projects.
•Provide owner-side engineering advisory service and contribute to execution oversight for projects (e.g., ACES Delta) to ensure their successful Substantial Completion, acting as a point of contact for technical and execution aspects of the project and its stakeholders, and leveraging insights gained for future GX opportunities.
•Build and maintain strong relationships with new and emerging key customers, partners, and industry stakeholders to ensure solution relevance and market pull, thereby expanding Mitsubishi Power technical/product adoption opportunities, while also supporting Mitsubishi Power’s strong existing customer base.
•Track key performance indicators (KPI’s) to measure the success of strategic initiatives.
•Support the execution of business development and implementation strategies, focusing on technical and execution readiness for project delivery.
•Collaborate with financial analysts, providing technical and execution insights to ensure project profitability while identifying potential financial and technical risks impacting the project.
•Contribute to the development and maintenance of a deep understanding of the GX market landscape, including specific technology trends, technical aspects of policy shifts, execution challenges, supply chain considerations, competitive dynamics, and customer needs across the Americas (North, Central, and South America).
•Collaborate closely with Mitsubishi Power's existing intelligence teams, providing a GX-focused technical and execution-related direction for their activities that aligns with Mitsubishi Power's overarching GX policy.
•Engage in information-driven discussions to ensure flexible, actionable, and comprehensive intelligence coverage across short, medium, and long-term horizons, directly supporting customer-facing strategies.
•Work in mutual complementarity with Mitsubishi Power's Strategy Team on strategic planning and insights related to the energy transition.
•Contribute to the development and execution of market research, technical and execution-focused competitive analysis, and customer segmentation activities, formulating and maintaining a long-term vision and scenarios for the GX business environment.
Requirements
•Bachelor's degree (BS) in engineering or a relevant field from a four-year accredited college or university is required. A graduate degree is a plus.
•Minimum of 8+ years of experience in project engineering, project management, or project execution roles specific to energy transition technologies and power generation.
•8+ years of experience in the Power Generation sector with a deep knowledge of business development related to gas turbine technology, renewable energy integration, and carbon capture.
•Demonstrated ability to perform technical analysis, contribute to engineering discussions, and understand project implementation challenges.
•Solid understanding of engineering and construction principles, related disciplines, and an awareness of US and international codes and standards relevant to project execution.
•Understanding of the project development lifecycle, including key stage gates and funding impacts.
•Experience in supporting contract negotiations such as partnership agreements, land acquisition, off-take, and feedstock agreements.
•Familiarity with capital project commercial contract management is essential.
•Business Development market knowledge as it pertains to energy technology, power markets, economics and US energy policies.
•Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Strong skills with Gantt Chart Tools and Project Management Scheduling using Primavera P6. PMP certification is a plus. Financial modeling experience is a plus, but not essential for this role.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English are essential. A profound appreciation for the importance of clear, consistent dialogue with global and Japanese teams, along with a deep understanding of the challenges and nuances in cross-cultural communication, is paramount. You'll need to effectively share and align on strategic directions, foster mutual understanding, and achieve consensus on execution approaches.
•Proven ability to contribute to complex projects, define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and coordinate and prioritize multiple projects and tasks. Interest and ability to work effectively in a small, dynamic team environment and collaborate with cross-cultural teams.
•Ability to travel frequently (up to 50%) within the Americas, including regular trips to Lake Mary, and occasional international travel to Japan may be required.
