Summary of Position:
The Revenue Manager assists in leading all month-end close and revenue processes. Responsibilities include reviewing and recording all revenue from the sale of oil and gas production by the Company, preparing all required internal and external revenue reports, as well as, supervising and developing revenue accounting seniors and staff. In addition, this position will be responsible for completing a variety of highly complex assignments involving advanced technical knowledge of accounting principles and production/revenue practices in the industry.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
•Lead the review, approval, and oversight of revenue accounting activities, including monthly revenue bookings, reconciliations, and journal entries, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
•Serve as a subject matter expert and backup to senior and staff accountants, stepping in to ensure continuity and accuracy during peak periods or staffing gaps.
•Oversee and validate production volumes, delivery allocations, and account balances for all working interest owners, royalty owners, and purchasers.
•Direct the preparation and presentation of monthly volume and revenue accruals, requiring close coordination with Production Reporting, Marketing, and Commercial Midstream teams.
•Ensure timely and accurate field-level financial reporting of oil, gas, and NGL revenue performance on a monthly and quarterly basis.
•Deliver comprehensive monthly variance analyses (budget vs. actuals, accruals vs. actuals) to inform management decisions.
•Manage accurate and complete revenue recognition, including the booking of gross revenues and related disbursements to co-owners, royalty owners, and government entities for taxes and regulatory fees.
•Lead and support revenue-related collections and A/R management, ensuring cash application accuracy and timely resolution of outstanding balances.
•Develop, document, and continuously improve revenue accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to enhance compliance, efficiency, and audit readiness.
•Investigate and resolve complex revenue accounting issues in collaboration with external partners and internal stakeholders across departments.
•Support the reserves process by providing accurate volume and pricing data for use in engineering and financial models.
•Monitor, track, and reconcile gas imbalance positions with partners and pipelines; ensure resolution of longstanding balances in coordination with Marketing and Land.
•Collaborate cross-functionally with Land, Marketing, Production, Operations, Business Development, and Corporate Accounting to ensure completeness and accuracy of revenue data and compliance with contractual obligations.
•Ensure timely and accurate filing of severance tax reports and all other required state and federal regulatory filings, particularly for Texas and New Mexico.
•Review key balance sheet account reconciliations, identify discrepancies, and lead corrective action.
•Proactively track purchaser payments and ensure all revenues are received and accounted for in alignment with contractual payment terms.
•Manage and respond to complex royalty owner inquiries with professionalism and clarity, ensuring alignment with legal and regulatory obligations.
•Ensure compliance with internal controls, SOX requirements, GAAP (including ASC 606), and Civitas company policies.
•Prepare and organize revenue documentation in response to internal and external audit requests, and lead special projects as assigned by leadership.
•Promote and uphold Civitas standards, maintaining integrity, accuracy, and transparency in all revenue accounting functions.
•Ensure all work complies with company environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements.
•Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed to support department and company objectives.
Knowledge/Skills/Competencies
•Advanced Analytical & Technical Proficiency: Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Office applications—particularly Excel—leveraging complex formulas, pivot tables, and data models to support data-driven decision-making and operational excellence.
•Revenue Systems Expertise: Working knowledge of industry-leading revenue accounting systems; familiarity with BOLO and/or SAP is preferred. Ability to quickly learn and optimize ERP platforms to improve efficiency and ensure data integrity.

Education & Experience:
•Bachelor’s degree – Accounting/Finance or related field required.
•7-10+ years of recent relevant accounting and management experience.
•Upstream Oil & Gas industry experience required.
Travel Requirements:
•Work is performed at a CIVI location Monday-Thursday with an option to work remotely on Fridays.
•Schedule: traditional 40-hour workweek or alternative schedule of 9 hour works days Monday-Thursday and 4-hour workdays Friday, as business needs allow and with manager approval.
•Minimal travel required to the Civitas field locations.

Base Pay Range: $143,700 - $160,000
